Only way to go. Forget the other guys and all the cpa go turbo tax. Last time I used a cpa was 1998 and trashed the return he finished for me and went and puchase turbo tax the next day and have not looked back and i still have all the cd from 1998 to now i just add to my collecting every year and loving it. Thanks
What's great about it: used since 1998 and will continue until I die
Once Home and Business was able to load on my machine, after waiting a month for a fix, things moved very well. Federal finished up well. It was another issue when I started my Arizona state. Forms not available!! I could not finish my resident state taxes, because completion was based on Arizona. I had to wait two more weeks to finish things up. I have not had problems in the past, so the level of non-preparedness in this instance took me by surprise. Time is money and you cost me some. I will try you again next year, but I sincerely hope you have it together by then...
What's great about it: Still very easy to use
What's not so great: Home and Business had to wait for fix, Arizona forms were not available
Over the years, I have taken the IRS's VITP sessions to keep up to date, and when I use TurboTax, I can say it makes doing taxes much easier than just following the book. Too, the cost, when I share it with my daughter and son, it is a cost saving. If you fear doing taxes, then you are not using TurboTax to assist, walking you through the process. Then, in the end, file your Federal Return via internet. Having to pay to file your State is steep, as oppose to just placing a stamp on an envelop and letting them direct deposit your refund, though it extends the refund time somewhat.
What's great about it: The menus give excellent guidance to get the most out of the product
What's not so great: The cost to filing the State electronically, other wise, I can't think of any...
Every time I tried to file, I was told the schedule A was not ready. When I did a search on line it said it was available sense Dec 2013. I have postponed my taxes, because updates were not automatically happening.
What's not so great: automatic updates did not work
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
Getting the buttons to work was not a biggie. Just entering the W-2 and income info once and having it transfer to the appropriate entries was fantastic, it just freaked me out some. This program worked faster and was easier to understand then previous ones, thank you.
What's great about it: Quickly loads details for multiple entries
What's not so great: Could not get the quick view for forms to work in buisness
