Turbo Tax is as usual very convenient to use, with some minor quirks, for my fairly simple Federal and Calif State returns.
One improvement that can help is to be able to just go in and edit or correct typos in the amounts and do an immediate auto-recalculation, without having to go thru several succeeding data entry steps if not necessary. Not sure how easy it is to implement, though.
What's great about it: Easy to use, transfers data from prior year
What's not so great: Not many. Entering the state tax amount paid with Calif State extension form FTB3519 was not obvious.

2013 Taxes for business

I have been using turbo tax since the 1990s But you never ask about old forms that have stuff in them from last year. You need to make we work on the forms I ask for the wald through in stead of taking me to them in the final review and asking how much in a form I have never seen. For example, i did not have a k1 this year, but was never asked to remove it, so there is was with things blank, what do I put in the blank? How do I go back to that section to fix it in the walk through? I am left in a lost state with the requirement that I put a number in a blank page of my taxes. Also, items with errors in the review were items left blank that were for car and deductible items which should have been a part of the walk through when I was filling in the pages. The program knows what items are in the worksheets and forms, i do not remember from year to year, so the questions should make me go to the items in old worksheets to make sure they are handled correctly in the following year. I have computers from the year 2002 that are so old they could not work, but I have never been asked if I threw them away. So now I get an error message asking what percentage I used them this year. Well, they are sitting on a rack growing dust. I don't know how to remove them from my list, so I dare not throw them away. This would be a big help. Like, you have an error here, would you like to go back to the walk through to see what should be done. would be a nice helpful tool.
What's great about it: got the job done for the most part.
What's not so great: The errors in my return were items that were skipped so errorswere turbo tax's fault

Getting easier every year

I think it would be very helpful if you put the Form and Line number next to the data entry points so that it is easier to line up the data and know that you are entering it the correct place.
What's great about it: Just enter the data.
What's not so great: Difficult to go back and find mistakes to edit, and difficult to line up data entry items with the actual tax form.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

TurboTax is awesome!

We've used TurboTax, Home & Business for several years. I love that it doesn't miss anything so that I'm confident I'm getting all the information in right, and getting the maximum refund back! It hung up on the check-out page; wouldn't accept the log-in information I used last year and I had to create a new account. Then took several attempts creating the new because "that username is already in use". Finally got it and all is well! It also helps you file an extension if you need it which is very helpfull.
What's great about it: Easy to use; easy to understand; you can work on it at your leisure or plow through it all in one sitting.
What's not so great: Got hung-up on the check-out page.

Hate it but can't find anything better.

I have used Turbo Tax for over 20 years now. I have purchassed several others trying to get away from Turbo Tax but always wind up using Turbo Tax in the end. My Taxes are 38 pages this year without worksheets or cover letters. I have had significant issues 4 or 5 of those years, mostly aggrivating things requiring me to call customer support. Only one year did I have to file an ammended return because of Turbo Tax errors, I had no problems with the IRS because I paid too much taxes due to Turbo Tax not continuing prior years depreciation schedules. You really need considerable tax knowledge if you are going to do complicated returns.
What's great about it: Transfers information from previous year.
What's not so great: Not perfect, You have to work with the quirks.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I Love Turbo Tax!

I've been using Turbo Tax to prepare and e-file my tax returns for about 10 years. It just keeps getting better and better every year. The hardest part is locating all my receipts! I love how it walks you through the entire process step-by-step. And, if you're like me, you can easily go back and make changes when you finally locate that missing document. I also love watching my "Refund" or "Tax Due" amount change every time I make an entry. Thank you, Intuit, for making tax preparation fun and easy.
What's great about it: It's so easy to use.
