Interesting

There was a substantial amount of discrepancy in the refund amounts and tax rates for both federal and state depending on whether you file by mail or file electronically, which was a big surprise and disappointment.
What's great about it: They walk you through each step.
What's not so great: Unclear exactly when finished.

Getting less helpful for people who live abroad
on June 12, 2014

Each year , there seem to be less help for expats and people who work abroad. Opaque explainations of difficult issues, inability to enter figures that have already been entered, inability to clearly explain what is required in support statements, depending on the "community" to get answers ,and a search engine that consistantly cannot find answers leave to user unsure and insecure about what they are doing. I know these are complex forms, but it feels like we are just left to "get on with it". Is there no more support than that?
What's great about it: able to transfer info from last year's return.
What's not so great: unable to put on fingures that have already been entered, unble to give hints as to what is required in suport statement

Very organized program, I am a huge Intuit fan--have quick books, quicken, etc.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: didn't know I only could do 5 returns, it dumped my largest return

Updates late in process
on June 12, 2014

After the tax information was submitted then the system provided an update of most current IRS laws and this update then unexplainably changed the positive federal dollar amount from a positive amount to a negative amount I must pay IRS. I tried to go back and determine what significant new laws were made that required me to owe taxes. I recommend the user should input all numbers with the new laws activated first not until you think you will get a return then your system says now lets review new laws and then you owe money without system pin pointing specifically the changes that were made.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Wonderful software and Support

I have been using TurboTax since 1988. I have gone head to head with cpa's that know taxes and beat them by thousands of dollars. I have used the support for the first time ever and was pleasantly surprised with the expertise, assistance and level of professionalism.
Nicely done!
What's great about it: Great support, very thorough
What's not so great: there isn't free state filing

Tom's G. Review of TurboTax For Tax Year 2013
on June 13, 2014

You failed under the topic of closing a business to provide other options. For example you offered options like; sold business, gave business to a relative and so on. You failed to provide an option on what to do if a person was simply closing their business. There were not enough drop down tabs concerning closing a sole proprietorship.
On another topic, TurboTax being they say that they stand by the accuracy of a return. If an individual wants to send their return electronically and it is refused by IRS, I believe that TurboTax should refund a portion of the cost of their CD. All returns should be sent in electronically.
What's great about it: Detail questions to obtain answers, except in area of closing a business.
What's not so great: You failed to have enough options under the topic of closing a business.
