Glad Turbo Tax is here to help!

I've been doing my own taxes for 51 years and it has been so much easier since Turbo Tax and computers were invented. Occasionally, over the years I have taken my returns to a CPA for review and they verified accuracy and said they could not have done better. We have 3 rentals and 2 businesses.
What's great about it: Easier than previous years

I will go on line instead of buying walmart software.

Easy way to save money

Several years ago I had a tax accountant (Ex-IRS agent) prepare my returns. I did all the work and he just put the info into Turbo Tax. I have now used Turbo Tax and only Turbo Tax to do my own returns. I find that it save me money. I was audited on my 2011 tax return but purchased Turbo Tax Tax Audit Coverage and I went through the audit easily.
What's great about it: I can do this at home. I have to gather all the tax info anyway, why pay someone else to put my info in a tax program.
What's not so great: Sometimes I get confused about the info asked for.

Disposition of Business Asset

I sold a car I used in business in the 2013 tax year. A number of $6770 which was identified as prior years depreciation. However I never could find the back up information that determined that number and what I did find in Asset Life History was completely different. I tried to ask the question and just got a generic answer and unable to reach a real person.
What's great about it: Generally trust worthy and accurate
What's not so great: difficult to find supporting documents
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Easy to use once agin

Quicken TurboTax was once again helpful in walking me through the refund and asking the right questions.
I got charged twice this year because Quicken cannot remember that I ordered and paid already.
What's great about it: Walked me through it
What's not so great: I got charged twice

2013 Turbo Tax

I have used Turbo Tax since the mid 1990s and have been very happy with the product. Each year, as taxes become more complicated the software seems to become more simplified. Great product and a great job.
