Tedious but doable

This is probably one of the best tax preparation software available.
What's great about it: good guidance
What's not so great: Does not explaiin many issues like business number and how to get it.

Very easy!
What's great about it: I've used TurboTax for years but this was the easiest yet
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Refund inconsistent with actual refund from IRS

My 2013 adjusted refund from IRS was $2345.00 The Turbo Tax refund was $1345.00. Why did your software miscalculate the refund amount?

Excellent Software for many years!

From the very first time I discovered this product "by accident" many, many years ago until today I have complete trust in this software. It has made my life so much easier. As someone who deals with tax returns almost every day (as a financial aid officer), I rely on this software to help me efficiently complete my annual return.
What's great about it: Consistent quality and ease of use.
What's not so great: Maybe a "bit" clunky when trying to find a particular form and jump to it.
Pros: I moved

Fabulous! Super Easy!

A few of the differences reported in my state K-1's were not listed in Turbo-Tax, i.e., tax exempt interest income at the end of the state K-1 entries.
I was unable to print pages describing Audit Defense, my receipt for Audit Defense and my receipt for e-filing my state return.
Other than these few minor glitches, the whole process was lengthy, but easy.
I am saving over $1,200 per year using Turbo Tax!
What's great about it: Everything is well thought out and easy to follow.
What's not so great: State K-1's still need a little work
Pros: I bought or sold investments

IRS rejected my e-filed return. TT gave me an 866 # to call for a pin. After running through all the prompts the IRS said I didn't need a pin and to enter my 2012 AGI. I entered the same AGI number that was correct and automatically displayed on TT. Hopefully it will work this time although I did nothing.

Was great until I tried to e-file my AZ tax return

Paid for e-filing my state tax forms then it would't let me because a box should have been left blank and it had zero in it. I tried everything I could think of but I could not get the zero deleted. So I haven't been able to file.
What's great about it: do it yourself and plenty of opportunities to review what you have done
What's not so great: buggy
Pros: I moved

terrible print experience

I've used TurboTax for many, many years, all with a great experience and results. This year was different. I purchased and loaded TurboTax 2013 from the product CD on my laptop last winter and did what I could to prepare. But there were delays in getting K-1s to me, so I had to file for extension. I finally got the k-1s in July, but by then my old laptop was suffering a lot of hardware failures so I had put it on the shelf and had replaced it with a new laptop. Then I loaded my TurboTax 2013 to it using the serial number that came with the CD. Then loaded the tax data file from my backup disk and completed my tax return (1040#. So far so good. But when I tried to print #for which TurboTax uses Adobe pdf files#, the adobe software gave a message that no pages had been selected for print. Over the following weeks I tried every trick I knew, went to forums for info, took the pdf files to other computers I have and friends have. All yielded the same results -- a message that said no pages selected for print. So by now I was suspecting that TurboTax is setting some hidden attribute in the output pdf file that was causing the print blocking. So I recovered by old laptop, did some work to get it back functioning #minimally) again, copied the turbotax file to the laptop, started TurboTax, and printed without a single problem. The pdf file output by TurboTax would not print on ten different computers I tried, but worked perfectly on my old laptop. The only difference is the old laptop had the original load from my TurboTax CD, and the pdf file had been output by the second copy of turbotax I loaded to my new laptop.
You need to fix this problem in TurboTax, You have to give the user some sort of message when one attempts to print the tax file if Turbo tax has concluded it will not output a printable pdf file, and the reason why.
What I have learned from this experience is all the many prior year turbotax CDs I have been saving in case I needed to get back into the original tax return file are useless if I want to print anything.
What's great about it: User interface is consistently the same as prior years. Didn't have to spend time relearning how to use Turbotax.
What's not so great: Printing of return took a very long time to make work.
