It's merely a process of answering questions with your information. The program did the rest. This was the easiest preparation that I've ever experienced.
What's great about it: Directed Ease of Completion
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
Iowa no longer requires a copy of the Federal return, so when Turbo Tax prints a copy of it when printing the Iowa return, it is a waste of valuable trees. Also, we should be able to opt out of printing certain forms when not need. Such as, the copies for the estimated tax payments for people who set their tax payments up to be paid automatically through the IRS website. Also, I deducted the portion of the auto license that was based on the weight when filing my federal taxes. When doing my state taxes the program asked for the weight of my auto and then deducted that value a second time. In my case it didn't matter, but on some tax returns it could make a difference.
My Pension is not a 401K as I know it. it pay me a monthly Dollers, and I started receiving it at age 60. not in Minumen Distributions. as the program kept telling me. that as 70&1/2 I need to take minumen dirtribution amount. and I do not. The Company fig how much I get from my age & years of service, I paid nothing into it. It is part of my pension plan.
Their much be a way of fig cost of Stock. I bought Stock by paying for it over the years. and then it split, became another company. reverce split. I have no way of figering how much it cost me at the time each share of stock was brought.
What's great about it: Same as last years, but harder to work
What's not so great: It try to treat my Pension as a 401 k
