I learned something new this year thru the community Q and A's. They were very helpful. It helped increase my refund that I would have missed. I like the Audit Defense as well. Hope I won't have to use it though.
Thank you Turbo Tax for continuing to make this program as user friendly as possible. I recommended to family as well. Saving them time and money for tax preparation fees.
What's great about it: liked the community Q andA's
What's not so great: none that I encountered
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
I have used TurboTax for a number of years and the system works well. The side by side comparison from last year helps in recognizing any missing documents. I use the Small Business addition to help in receiving the maximum deductions. Since I have retired, I will switch to an even simpler version for my 2014 taxes.
What's great about it: All the information needed to file an accurate return.
What's not so great: Some questions are redundant, but it verifies the correct input.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
Great product. Easy to use. Even though it has value, it could go for cheaper and maybe sell more. I thought I would have to wait for the IRS to put out a schedule A update before I could file. Signed up to receive an email when update was available. After I manually checked for updates it turned out it was just not updated. Seems like it would be good to either auto update or recommend a person to manually verify everything is updated. Overall I love TT! It was so easy, it was almost enjoyable.
What's great about it: The way TT lays out your options to explain every detail or skip along quickly helps to do the taxes at your pace
What's not so great: Cost. Having to manauly find and click the "check for updates option" Update should just check & ask to update.
I have been using Turbo tax for several years and find the current improvements to the program even better. More info on a page concerning a particular topic, i.e. child care credit.
I can't file a state return because it says ohio 1040ez not supported, file by mail. I try to print the return to mail and DO NOT FILE FORM NOT FINAL IS PRINTED ON THE FORM. The cover sheet says 1040 EZ does not need filed because of income level. Took six tries to file the federal return because the message said I needed an update but none were available. I kept trying to file and it finally went maybe but I didn't do an update. This is the worst year ever using your software.
One of my favorite things about TurboTax is that it BOTH walks you through in an orderly fashion AND it allows for you to "second guess yourself" and return to sections you think you need to check (or change something in). I always seem to get some form in the mail after I'm almost done and it is easy to go back in and add it, and double check things.
What's great about it: Easy to follow AND easy to return to areas you need to revisit
