Payments Made Easy

Will continue to use the product. Free e-filing is good.
What's great about it: Seems comprehensive. Good explanations. Review of returns very helpful.
What's not so great: For K-1's with more than one type of income (e.g., business and rental) need to create a new K-1 for each type
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Satisfied but don't like file extension online
on October 11, 2014

File extension should be part of purchased software. It is fine your company lets others file extension online for free, but you should not force everyone use online tool to file extension.
What's great about it: My family has been using Turbo tax in the past a few years, like the product, easy to use.
What's not so great: This year, however, my purchased software can't file extension, which was very frustrated.

Found the school district section confusing. Asked for the same information more than once. Actually doubled amount entered for SD tax payment made on 2012 tax. RITA is also confusing with the non-residence/residence distinctions. Asked in more than one place and then reversed automatic fill-in of city worked in and city of residence.

Ended up paying for a tax accountant

I have a state specific situation on my K-1 that I didn't expect that Turbo Tax necessarily have on enterprise zone credits. What I did expect is the ability to file the necessary notification form to the federal government!!!! This was a major disappointment as it makes it so that you have to paper file your federal return. It is one form. Add it.
What's not so great: No version of turbo tax supports a full K-1 situation.

2013 Turbo Tax

Overall very good! You need to fix the entry process for K-1's in an IRA or let people know that they do not need to enter them.
What's great about it: Walks you through your tax situation and gives some good explainations!
What's not so great: Some of the questions are ambiguous or unclear

Made my life EASY

This was my first time at using TurboTax, after having been an H&R Block user for many years. I thought TurboTax was more user-friendly that the other and it was very thorough. I am super pleased with the software and the ease of completing my tax returns. It's not so scary anymore! :-)
What's great about it: Easy detailed instructions, left no stone unturned.
What's not so great: When failed the 'review' with errors, wasn't sure what it was telling me I needed to do. No detailed instructions there.

401k

i am self employed and not very clear where to put the 20 % profit sharing or allowing that breakdown. i ultimately put it in employer profit sharing.
also when to check maximum contribution and to uncheck it.
i finally unchecked it to take a lesser contribution as it was generating an excessive contribution to rothira so i manually put it in myself which cleared the form . more help in this area would be beneficial.
i spend a lot of time here. even asked a cpa and they really dont use turbo but they advised to stay with the 23K.
What's great about it: did give 17500 and catchup 5500 for 401k
What's not so great: not clear about profit sharing or if should put it in the sep
Pros: I bought or sold investments
