I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of using Turbo Tax since my status is complicated by that fact that I work internationally.

I like Turbo Tax however in an effort for the consumer to do more electronic filing, then the state filing should be free. It should be included in the cost of the product and not a separate fee.
What's great about it: Easy to follow instructions especially for a seasoned tax preparer
What's not so great: State electronic filing requirement is not free
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Submitted my return for 2013; return was rejected due to 2012 Returns had to mail not e-file. Screen prompt told me what to do, resubmitted; Fed and State was accepted quickly. Never had that happen before, always recommend Electronic Filing!

Don't know how I could do without it

I've been using it for years.
My mother died recently. The assets I inherited included some IRAs and tax-deferred annuities, which made my tax situation more complicated than usual, but TurboTax helped me through it.

The Turbo tax software continues to improve and delivers value. The task of computing and filing taxes is as much fun as a root canal without anesthesia - Turbo Tax makes it much less unpleasant. Thank you, TT! Worth your weight in gold...

Organized and Smooth

This is my first time filing with TurboTax; previously, I used a CPA who was charging me a lot and not providing value.
I got TurboxTax one week before deadline and wanted to give it a try. The software has worked great: the questions were easy and flowed smoothly and followed a logical pattern. I had no frustrations with it.
I would like to see some improvements:
1. Property tax refund for cars -- my state (VA) has property taxes for cars, there is no direct place to put it. I had to wedge it into the home/property tax section.
2. There are free-form text options for some deductions (such as "looking for work" expenses). Would be nice if these are formalized into drop down items
3. Help: Product has very good help, but these are still areas where help is lacking. For example, VA allows "allocating" income to both spouses to see if a lower tax might apply. There is no help in that screen. I would like to have seen: (1) what this means, (2) why you may or may not want to do this and (3) how to determine the amounts given that accounts are mingled -- sometimes it may just not be possible. Would be nice to have read this from the help sections as opposed to spending an hour searching the net for answers.

Overall, great experience with TurboTax and I will try this again next year!

Another Care-Free Tax Filing Year

I have been using TurboTax for more than 10 years now and find one of the best features is the consistency of the software from year to year. Yes, there has been some changes over the years, but they have been kept to a minimum. If I was to change anything, I would provide the option to select the "Do not ask for the option of importing information" when entering investment activity after the first input rather than after the third as in the current (and previous) version.
