2013 Return Review
on October 15, 2014

On each page remind customer to "Keep making, it will make sense later."
In the review section, when there are errors are items not entered, have an instant back button that will take you back to the place where the correction has to be made.
Have a page print button for each section where numbers have been added. This will make it a lot easier to correct errors.
What's great about it: Ease of entering data and it usually makes good sense.
What's not so great: When it doesn't make sense it is difficult to figure out what is going on

Suggestions for becoming a 10+
on October 15, 2014

My suggestions would make your product a 10+
1. Add an icon/tab to be able to print the screen as seen,
2. Alphabetize the Contributions List--this is always a slow up,
3. Reduce time scrolling, have the screen/program return to the next entry or the one just completed in the income and expenses areas.
You produce a very understandable detailed product. Thanks so much!!!!
What's great about it: Organization, explanations, thoroughness
What's not so great: Can't print screens as seen, Contrib.List not alphabetized, too much scrolling required

See above; improves every year.
What's great about it: Handles home & business issues well.
What's not so great: Glitches - wanted me to fill out Schedule F, didn't ask about my payment with extension.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

All the tools are there to guide you through completing your taxes. It is quick and easy to navigate. It is worth the price. You can smoothly transition from one year to the next.
What's great about it: logical progression for doing taxes
What's not so great: add a visual "tick" when you have backup info on entries
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

TurboTax Success - Again

Being able to re-ask a question 10 times (over time, in different contexts) is invaluable versus asking a professional at $$$/hour otherwise.
The path through all the convoluted sections is pretty well laid out, though certainly not ideal yet!
I love the data brought forward from past years and the overall reviews and tips given - not just to get one's taxes in.
What's great about it: There is lots of assistance to answer questinos - much quicker than goign online or over the phone!
What's not so great: Updates to Quicken do not automatically get readjusted in TurboTax. I believe you actually have to reimport all over!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

NOL instructions could be better. There should be simple step by step instructions on how to calculate NOL and make sure they are forwarded to next years returns.
What's great about it: Great step by step instructions
What's not so great: Net operating losses (NOL) don't seem to automaticially forward

TURBOTAX2013

I am an amateur, not an accountant. I am under significant personal stress this past few months. Having the program walk me through everything was soothing and reassuring. I am a 63 year-old medical doctor, and even I could do my own taxes thanks to this Intuitive Intuit software.
What's great about it: Great instructions and explanations. Easy review and navigation
What's not so great: e-Filing was cumbersome. I had to restart my computer
Pros: I bought or sold investments
