This is the best version of Turbo Tax to ever! I've used Intuit Tax and Accounting software for over two decades.
It started as a very tedious form based program that wasn't much better than filling out your taxes manually. Then it progressed into a lengthy step by step program that had you pulling your hair out due to it's inability to just stop an avenue of questions and move ahead or back in the program. You were forced to go through a lengthy series of questions and filled out forms to get you back to where you were. Navigation was, to put it bluntly, a nightmare
But this version has the ability to navigate to the forms and back to the step by step without a very lengthy and tedious process. Navigation is much better. You can skip around to go back, and forward, and make corrections much easier. Hooray!
What's great about it: Works much more efficiently than previous versions
What's not so great: None that I can notice.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I've been using TurboTax since the 90's, and this is the best version yet (I've used everything from Deluxe through Home & Business; this year I used H&B). I really, really like the newer simplified ability to jump between interview/step-by-step questions and looking at the form that will be affected. That is very useful whenever you are doing something beyond what a simpler filer needs...like those of use who need the H&B features, Schedule C, SE, etc.. Overall it does a much better job of taking you exactly back to where you came from whenever you press BACK...in the past it sometimes jumped you to the beginning of the "module", forcing you to re-enter info. Now it's truly an intelligent BACK function, a REAL time-saver. Love it! Saving and Form Generation happen lightening fast...and the ability to print/preview at any stage is awesome instead of waiting until the end. It's not that I print intermediate stages...but sometimes I want to preview the form before I go on. The flow of error checking is much improved as well...it found and fixed them all on the first pass #carrying the corrections from one error forward to the next step, so that multiple error-correction passes weren't needed. Since I do the taxes for my family and other family members...I usually file 4-5 returns a year with Turbo Tax, and I give it a real workout and provide detailed feedback to Support about what I think they should improve. This year I have no complaints -- break out the champagne and give yourselves a well-deserved break. Wish I had a great pic of me that related to the product, but the closest would be me NOT sitting at my desk, NOT fuming over how hard it is to do taxes!
What's great about it: Easier to use than ever, online help better than ever!
What's not so great: Not obvious when filing multiple family returns that the 2-5th Fed returns are FREE to file!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Turbo tax does make life easier and much less expensive. The error check, the audit option, the ease of e-filing, makes Turbo Tax one of the best options for the middle class person trying to save some bucks, instead of high accountant fees.
What's great about it: kept me organized and ontime.
What's not so great: it was hard when I saved my return the last two years but it did not import. This process needs to be refined.

Overall, it is a great program and just gets better every year. It guides you when you want and lets you loose when when you think you know what you are doing. Then at the end it checks everything.
What's great about it: Simple to follow and complete. handles just about everything that can happen and makes you feel like you can do it right
What's not so great: At the end it asked me for some additional information that I didn't understand where it came from.

Turbotax Great but troubled....

Seems Turbotax excels if you never used it before walking you through step by step. Where it fails....
If you import from previous year, you can often have 'pieces' of stuff left behind on deductions or income you aren't using in the next year, they assume incorrectly that tax situations never change. And this year was no different with my 'complete' return having a mystery error that resulted from a car without a name, to delete it I had to add a mystery name, fake information then finally i get to the 'delete' button so I had to add to delete. Seriously?
Also this year the drill downs were particularly slow to load and I'm running on a FAST system. The Schedule C needs an overhaul for easier entry especially for the "home and business" edition that should help you calculate the values, and it should have 'calculator' fields to allow you to split values (e.g. total cost of sales is XXXX, and then as you split it up it should insure that each section adds up to your financial sheet total) same for other areas such as deductions etc... a running total.
What's great about it: Easy to use, great drill down for forms
What's not so great: OFTEN like every year there are pieces that need fixing in returns
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

The Way-to-Go for that Onerous Tax Filing Process

Has been a consistently excellent product for my Home & Business filing of Federal and State Returns for over a decade. Extremely flexible in inputting information - dual option of Step-by-Step and by Form is a great feature - usually use both - gracefully switching back and forth. Highly comprehensive including any and all Forms and Worksheets that I have ever needed. Fast and accurate calculations/recalculations.
Thanks for a great product that makes the onerous tax-filing process doable and bearable.
What's great about it: See Review below
What's not so great: 1. Editing capabilities in Pop-up description sheets - poor; No way to attach Supplementary sheets/files
Pros: I bought or sold investments
