Doing Tax Forms the EZ Way

Started a new business & filed for an extension as I was confused on preparing my tax return on my own. TurboTax made it as simple as possible & I finished just in time. Thank you TurboTax!!
What's great about it: Interview process
What's not so great: Paying extra to file state

Great program, I've been using it for years and highly recommend it!
What's great about it: I love having the choice of EITHER eing guided through every option OR filling in only what you want to address.
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Katie at the Call Center in Boulder Rocks!

I've used Turbo Tax for years, but this time I was convinced it was not calculating correctly. I contacted the call center in Boulder, CO, and spoke to Katie (who is from outside Manchester, England). She stayed on the phone with me until I could download the desktop version and walked me through how to use it. She kept me calm and made the final process so much easier. I still owed, (there was no incorrect calculation on the part of Turbo Tax!) but at least I able to look at the forms and confirm the information. Thanks Katie!!!

Easy Import Made All The Difference!

I initially figured my taxes in April but had to file an extension because the taxes owed were so high. I knew it couldn't be that different from last year, but I did lose a dependent child this year. I pretty much forgot about filing until today. The update that ran upon opening made everything so much easier! I realized that I had mistakenly entered my husband's business income twice and somehow didn't catch it the first time. This new update is so user friendly and I'm so glad I filed an extension, reviewed the data, and will now be getting a refund for the extra payments I had made in April.
What's great about it: It was so easy to import data from last year's Turbo Tax return and from my Quicken files
What's not so great: Income counted twice and wasn't easy to catch

Turbo Tax to the Rescue

Turbo Tax is the best. My husband used to pay an accountant to do this, but Turbo Tax does it better!
What's great about it: Love the ease and explanations when needed
What's not so great: That it doesn't automatically save when my laptop freezes

I have used a CPA (or more likely someone without a degree that works for my CPA) for the past 10 years in the filing of my income taxes but decided this year to try it myself with the help of Turbo Tax home and business. I was apprehensive to tackle this daunting task as we own 3 small businesses.
Between the easy to use program and the wonderful help I received from the professionals at Turbo Tax I managed to not only get the forms filled out and e filed before the deadline but I have learned so much about my own deductions,losses etc thanks to the patient individuals that answered all of my questions and even took the time to educate me. I wish I had done this years ago.
Now no matter if I continue to do them myself or return to a CPA I no longer feel helpless and completely lost.

2013 Turbo Tax Import Issues?

We have an issue with our 2013 Return. Now we have to go visit the IRS local office. Our Tax-Exempt Income transferred as Taxable Interest Income. On the financial institution statement, it showed the same amount as both Taxable and Tax-Exempt so maybe the issue lies with the financial institution since it is their year end statement. How can the EXACT same amount be both Taxable AND Tax-Exempt at the same time? Instead of getting a Refund (which we expected), we currently had to pay the IRS a sizable amount of money which exceeds $4K. Not happy!
What's great about it: Seems to Work OK but...
What's not so great: The import does NOT work properly.
