I love the step-by-step guides and the way it pulls information from the previous year. That often reminds me that I have to go find a particular document because what I did last year is right on-screen. Great product
What I don't love is that it keeps trying to sell me the state tax program even though my return doesn't require one. My state, TN, is basically a no income tax state except in rare circumstances. I'd love to see something built into the program at the end to tell me whether I actually need to file the state income tax or not.
What's great about it: Great step-by-step guides to take you easily through the process
What's not so great: Keeps trying to sell me the State Tax software even though my state only requires taxes in rare circumstances.

It would be nice if you could ask the tool for tips. Example - based on my data what adjustments could I have made to minimize my effective tax rate.
What's great about it: Step by step approach is always good - makes sure you don't miss anything.
What's not so great: I found some of the 'less common' issues to be cumbersome. #1099-Misc#.

I did my taxes again with TaxAct, with a refund as usual. This year, I also tried TubroTax, I entered the same information, and with your system, I owe. I can't find the error, yet, without printing all the forms. I have to say that some how, the input of of the information was not calculated correctly. I see no use for your product. From doing my own taxes by hand, then using on-line programs, yours seems to have an error.
What's great about it: Pretty simple
What's not so great: How can I figure out your calculations without printing forms

Pro: TT helps with complicated math and record-keeping. It does help with the maze of depreciation, especially.
Con: At several points you can check a box, and then when you go back and then forward again the box you checked is now blank. Why can't it keep things as you put them in? (It often does, but not always.)
Con: Basic is all I need, so why do the email solicitations never offer that?
Con: It ought to be possible to jump forward through the step-by-step process without tediously having to click through every page again.
What's great about it: Incorporates past information, including depreciation
What's not so great: Sometimes doesn't save information sensibly
