I've been using Turbo Tax for years to do my federal income taxes. It's thorough, easy to use, and inexpensive. I'd recommend this product to anyone does their own taxes.
What's great about it: Thorough. Easy to use. Inexpensive
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I really like the comprehensiveness. I do not have to spend time identifying all the pertinent income, taxes paid, and deductions. TurboTax ensures that everything pertinent is included.
Preparing the actual return is easy. I usually have some difficulty with installation and dealing with updates. This year, TurboTax aborted at the estimated sales tax input. After spending considerable time on turbotax.com/support, I finally figured out that my software was not auto updating.
What's great about it: Using TurboTax ensures that I include all pertinent info. Preparing return is simple. Good printed copy.
What's not so great: Software updates are not real easy to deal with.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Too much advertisizing

I don't need all the extra audits, etc. I don't have a state return because I don't have a business or rental house (which you know) and I continually get questions on paying for a state filing.
What's great about it: tax calculations & advice is great
What's not so great: Clicking constently to get through advertisizing is annoying

As an independent contractor with several jobs, TurboTax really makes figuring out my taxes easy by making sure I know about all the deductions that are applicable to my work (home office and vehicle expenses/deductions/credits, etc.).
I would like to see more explanation for a few things, such as AMT for a vehicle purchase/trade-in and depreciation issues. The minimal info provided made no sense to me.
Despite this small concern, I'm thrilled with TurboTax and the confidence it gives me in preparing my own taxes. For years, I've been using a CPA who charged me several hundred dollars to sort out my various jobs each year. NO MORE!!!
YAY TurboTax!
What's great about it: Amazingly detailed
What's not so great: some explanations are still confusing

System requires copying large amounts of information not directly useful in completing the forms and navigation is overly complicated. For example, I don't need to copy all the information from a 1099 manually as this input just creates a duplicate record. Navigation does not easily accommodate in a random order which is how I actually receive information needed to complete the forms. I would like to enter information as I get it, e.g. a 1099R and a W2 today and a 1099DIV the next. Entering information directly on forms seems to be getting more difficult as well.
What's great about it: Seems to be correct
What's not so great: Very complicated to use
