I love the step-by-step guides and the way it pulls information from the previous year. That often reminds me that I have to go find a particular document because what I did last year is right on-screen. Great product
What I don't love is that it keeps trying to sell me the state tax program even though my return doesn't require one. My state, TN, is basically a no income tax state except in rare circumstances. I'd love to see something built into the program at the end to tell me whether I actually need to file the state income tax or not.
What's great about it: Great step-by-step guides to take you easily through the process
What's not so great: Keeps trying to sell me the State Tax software even though my state only requires taxes in rare circumstances.
There was glitch in the signing form at the end of the online tax process, luckily your customer service representative was able to screen share guide me to the desktop version and we completed my return successfully!
What's great about it: Excellent Customer Service
What's not so great: Glitch in the online version
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved
I would like to see the order reversed -- as I finish a section place it at the bottom so that the next section is on top; so I don't have to skip over all of the finished sections to get to the next. And, place the Next/Back buttons at both the top and bottom. Yeah, I know, I'm lazy!
What's great about it: Easy guide concept
What's not so great: income and deductions sections
give capability of organizing some my entries from year to year, example:
In 2012 i had 7 mutual funds. When I did my 2013 return i Had added two more funds. Tiurbo Tax forced my to list/enter these last after the prior year's entry. I wanted to reorganize the new list, but couldn't find a way to do this, without retyping the entire list according to my desires, i.e. alphabetically.
Other list include dvidend payers, IRA sources, etc.
They make it easy by walking you through every step and can retrieve w2 details from employer's if available access. I have used turbo tax for the last seven years.
