I used turbotax basic and it did everything I need, including the entry of a K-1 schedule. I like the process and appreciate how it transfers all of last year's information into the new return before you get started on the new year. I've used turbotax for at least 10 years now and would highly recommend it.
What's great about it: Like the way it transfers last year's information. Easy to follow...
I have many IRAs from which I withdraw money. After each one there are pages of questions. They should be somehow combined so that if all answers are the same,it should apply to all. There are many other similar situations.Generally the turbo tax procedure is easy to follow.and thorough.
What's great about it: only need to change the amounts
What's not so great: Cant print turbotax summary category sheets
I used another software for the last few years, but couldn't pass up the good deal of getting Turbotax and Quicken in a joint package. Turbotax worked as well as the other software and it only took a couple of hours to get everything done. I especially like the ease of using electronic filing. On the whole it was a good experience.
What's great about it: easy to understand directions and most (but not all) info from last year, when I used a different software) transferred
What's not so great: hard to navigate from section to section
Ok, so the software did include some things i did not think of for deductions, but those savings went right out the window with every state return I had to pony up for. Since they are not advertised on the box at all, I'll be using a different product next year.
What's great about it: Taxes were finished by deadline, included several deductions I didn't think os.
What's not so great: Nickel and dimed to death
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments
