2013 turbo tax

Generally program works well for my purpose. The filing and printing section has changed that now requires extra steps to print. Now I need to save a File Copy in pdf then open that file to print the hard copy and also do the same thing to get an official TaxReturn to sent to the IRS. Note: I don't trust the IRS to keep my data from hackers therefore I don't E-File.
What's great about it: like that it auto input last years data & step by step guidance
What's not so great: trouble with rental property input - question did not lead me to Sch E
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I have been using tax software since it was first introduced to just print and mail. I have used Turbo Tax since they came out with the software to file electronically. I love it and its easy to use.
What's great about it: Very easy to use. Just answer the questions.
What's not so great: Can't think of any,

Despite all "expert" advice I could not complete this without ERRORS. Repeatedly insisted I enter a valid ZIP and Payer number even though I entered all 9s
It worked ok in pervious years so what's new.

Treatment of Box 3 Income on 1099-MISC

Need to modify programming to allow for a specific exclusion of self-employment tax as specified in the 1099-Misc instructions for Box 3-Other Income entries. This exclusion relates to "termination payments made to retired former self-employed insurance agents", of which there are thousands. Your current version does not allow for an explanation entry on line 21 of 1040 to properly explain this exclusion. I was allowed to write in this explanation in your 2012 edition.

Turbo Tax did not ask me about additional income and I got a notice from the IRS from last year regarding Social Security income. I was unaware I had to pay tax on my husband's social security income based on my income. I feel for the price of the software, that question should have been specifically asked. I will not purchase Turbo Tax again. I don't need it.

I have been using Turbo Tax (and MacInTax previously) for many years now, and have no problems or complaints.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
