Great as Usual

I have been using Turbo Tax for 10+ years and it has always been a great product. I have multiple investments that require a K1 and Turbo Tax has no problem filling in all the data on the appropriate forms.
What's great about it: Does a great job with complicated investments
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I continue to use Turbo Tax because it pulls my historical information which speeds up the whole process significantly. I appreciated the easier pin # process this year.
What's great about it: Clear concise questions in interview
What's not so great: can't change responses in a worksheet, need access to all cells in worksheets if they come back as errors

2013 Tax Year

I love to use TurboTax. I have used it exclusively for many years, for 6 years on this computer and a couple on the old one. I am unhappy in that the cost keeps going up all the time. I realize I could use your free site but I enjoy the fact that when I download the program, it fills in many blanks for me therefore cutting down on the amount of time it takes me to do my taxes.
What's great about it: I got my return done in less than 2 hours!
What's not so great: Cost

When one goes back to topic list, he has to re-answer all questions of that topic - would like editing process to be more pinpointed to specifics.
What's great about it: Easy and accurate
What's not so great: Manual editing process takes too long.

There are a few federal forms with boxes that are not checked when choice is available (but not critical): credit for elderly, additional info std vs. itemized deduction, and on W2 employer = state or federal govt y/n.
The most perplexing issue is when trying to reconcile qtrly estimated local tax payments in itemizing. The 4 payments are entered, but it needs the prior year's last payment (which should be pulled from the prior year's return). But that is not what it really needs in that box ... the total for the current year paid. This apparently happens a lot, and while there are many instances of online questions about it, it took me a dozen or so related websites to get a reasonable answer. It is not explained well in the Federal tax code.
What's great about it: Covers everything
What's not so great: Some minor issues are not clearly noted or resolved

Difficult time with updates

I've used TurboTax for years and have generally had a good experience with it. For some reason, however, this year was an exception. I had multiple problems with the software (installed on an Apple desk top). Most of the problems centered around the updates. When I finally worked through everything and double/triple checked the numbers (because I wasn't fully trusting the software at this point) and tried to file electronically, it would not let me because I did not have "the latest updates". I went back and updated 3 different times and it still wouldn't let me file electronically. So here I go to the post office to mail it. VERY FRUSTRATING!!! Part of the software fee is for the ability to electronically file, which is worthless now for me.
What's great about it: Good program for working through income and deductions
What's not so great: Software gave me fits!
Pros: I moved

Last year I used Deluxe. This year decided to use Basic again which I had used in past. Just need assurance that I'm using the correct version for our situation -- both retired now.
What's great about it: making it easy to complete
What's not so great: any shortcuts appreciated
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
