it made all of the supporting forms and guided me through. it was still familiar from previous years to reduce any confusion. the 2210 AI left me hanging on figuring out what information I need and how to get there
Great job. Next year I need to track job search expenses and do a better job of tracking charitable donations (church, and itemized lists of goodwill donations.)
What's great about it: Mortgage rate deduction explanations
What's not so great: I am forever confused by foreign tax credits. Perhaps there is a way you could make this part more intuitive.
I've used TurboTax for probably 10 years now, and can't dream of doing my taxes any other way. I'm confident that my taxes are accurate. Plus, my return gets processed super quick. I love that my information carries over year to year. They try to do everything possible to make this chore as simple as possible.
Thanks for all of your help over the years.
What's great about it: Always trying to make things easier
What's not so great: Any failings are with the tax code, not the program
I found Turbo Tax to be very simple and easy to use. I used other versions of Turbo Tax in the past but found now that I am retired the Basic version is all I need.
I love Turbo Tax. This year was a particularly simple tax year for us because nothing new had happened (besides another baby -- big for us, no new twist to the tax prep, though). In previous years, however, we have had complicated tax situations. I love that I was able to choose "Basic" for this year, but could go back to Deluxe or Premiere in the future, and they all work together seamlessly.
Great product; great support.
What's great about it: Fills in all the info from last year; highlights areas to change
What's not so great: can't always go back to things like last year's list of banks
Someone needs to error check 1040 when used with a foreign address and job. Small but annoying example... Turbo Tax does accept my foreign address but not my phone number. It only accepts North American phone numbers...so you have to make one up or give someone elses in the US...without saying it is theirs. Other difficulties with US social security and also foreign retirement as part of a job...no where to record that and there is a penalty if you do not. Etc.
What's great about it: does provide scaffolding and helpful questions
What's not so great: still does not perfectly fit US citizens who live and work abroad and yet file with the IRS.
