I have used Turbo Tax for many years now and it always meets my needs with my inputs that I have grown used to in using Turbo Tax.. It is easy to use if you have gathered together all of the information needed to file your Federal Income Tax.
user friendly, easy ,I only got lost one time ,I think overall a very good product the way it guides you and rechecks for mistakes .My wife and I have used Turbo Tax I think for the past five years.
What's great about it: it was mostlyeasy
What's not so great: couldnt file state return yet
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
Couldn't get efile to work for the fed return. Old pin didn't work and they would not provide a new one. AGI was correct. After several tries gave up and sent return in by mail.
What's great about it: Generally easy
What's not so great: Trouble with efile for deceased person.
Love Turbo Tax and intend to keep using it for as many years as it remains such a good product. The only issue I have is the badgering to use TT for state returns. My state has a very easy to use web return and it's free.
What's great about it: Easy to use; good help.
What's not so great: Trying to push the state return.
Turbo Tax is a great product and we use it every year due to its simplicity and completeness. However, this year we encountered difficulties with:
1. Rental income. This is the first time we rented our property and were forced into prorating expenses that were not consistent with reality. The program did a good job of prorating interest, insurance and taxes, but we tracked our operating expenses separately and timely and had to override to get it right and claim an additional $1K in tax refund.
2. Efile Pin. I admire the opportunity to Efile, but I choose not to use this feature. As a result, I am disappointed that the new version of Turbo Tax forces me to select a pin - this is confusing as I do not know what repercussions result as a result of this.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: 1. Problem with rental income section 2. Forced me to enter 5 digit pin for efile which I do not use (confusing)
