Piece of cake

Installation was a breeze for Windows 7 (64-bit system). Transfer of data from last year went smooth and was very helpful in reminding me of deductions. Import of W-2's saved a lot of time. Also, very easy to go back and edit sections when I discovered I missed a deduction.
Been using Turbo Tax for over 10 years and will continue.
What's great about it: Straight forward questions during walk through
What's not so great: No state tax in Florida but kept asking to file state return.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

2013 BASIC REVIEW

There are too many worksheets that require detail entries and if omitted you cannot make data entries. The program works best using the prompts in each tax category but you won't know what tax form you are creating. If you use tax form editing and enter data in a field that needs correcting you must override the entry and in many cases this override cannot be eliminated from preventing an efile. The field will change but when the override is canceled the initial value will remain. If reporting the sale of business assets on Form 4797 no asset cost data will be transferred from the asset entry work sheet. Data must be entered with an
override. This is not a good package for 2013. Good luck.
What's great about it: Same format as last year with many worksheets.
What's not so great: Any reporting of capital assets sold is a nightmare. Don't use Basic.

Ended up filing state at the state revenue site. Could not print out the forms for filing from the state. It wouldn't recognize the Adobe Reader on my computer.
What's great about it: easy to follow
What's not so great: charged extra for state, then wanted to charge extra to e-file.

My biggest beef was the rebate program. Rebate for Quicken purchased with Turbo tax rejected due to wrong retailer even though they provide the forms and told me about the rebate in the first place. Rebate for state efile, I gave up since their directions on proof of purchase not accurate. If they take my money over the internet why can't they rebate as easily?
As to the program, I have done mine and other taxes for over 40 years so I am no novice. My difficulty this year was getting entry explanations when required. It seemed more difficult to navigate for those not wanting to follow their step by step.
What's great about it: quick entry, easy to understand directions
What's not so great: forget rebates, hard to navigate, calculation explanation lacking

When entering a 1099R for pension income turbo tax assumes there should be minimum required distributions. I found this confusing. You should ask the question "is this a pension or is this an IRA distribution?"

Can't live without it!

I can't live without this software. I've done my taxes with TT for over 10 years and the experience is positive every year. I don't know how I'd do my taxes without it. Relatively easy to use and the interview process makes sure I cover all bases before filing. Bravo!
What's great about it: Easy to use, user friendly wizards to guide you through
What's not so great: Sometimes hard to navigate
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Bigger refund than last year
on February 15, 2014

Imported everything in last years return, then went down the list to get all the W-2s and 1099s. The bank got lost and I had reenter for the bank interest. I don't remember doing that last year. Overall it went through everything needed to be done. Printed copy looked very good. I will use this again next year. Thanks, Tony
What's great about it: Fast
What's not so great: Didn't go to everything i had on my tax return last year
