TurboTax 2013

A 20+ year user of TurboTax is happy once again. The Step-by-Step interview process makes it very easy to enter the needed data and spit out a return. My only complaint is that some tax situations such as small businesses, real estate investments and the like are not always conducible to the interviews. Otherwise, it's almost effortless. Now, if we could only make the tax code simpler........
What's great about it: Integrated Interview System
What's not so great: Complex Issues are not easy to solve with the Interview Process
Pros: I bought or sold investments

e-file didn't work

e-file wasn't successful at the end. Message said that I needed to have the latest update loaded. I updated both my computer and turbo tax with the latest updates and it still didn't e-file and the same error message comes up. I have a Mac that is fairly new. This was very frustrating to me as this has worked for me the previous year in 2012 with turbo tax. I still don't know why this wouldn't e-file so I am leery about using this program next year.
What's great about it: good program except for e-file at the end
What's not so great: e-file didn't work so I had to mail it

This is the second year that I have used TurboTax. I find it easy to use and I appreciate that the previous year's info is transmitted over to the new tax year. I recommend the use of TurboTax
What's great about it: Straight forward and easy to use.

First problem in many years of using Turbotax.

TurboTax has been a good experience for tax filing for many years. This year, however, had an upset because I had to do it over again. I was preparing to file the first attempt when the TurboTax program got locked up as I was in the process of creating a PDF file. Nothing would work so I had to manually shut down the PC without going thru the normal Start shutdown procedure. When I restarted, the completed tax package was gone. The only choice was to start over.
What's great about it: Better than using the old pencil, paper and calculator approach of years ago.

I tell everyone who says"Time to go get my taxes done, it sure expensive" just buy Turbo Tax, sit down and do it yourself. I have been doing it for years. It's easy. Save a buck and do it yourself.
What's great about it: Saves money and a trip to the accountant
What's not so great: still gotta pay taxes

Basic is not clear or error free

There is an error message regarding the form 1098 -int that pertains to mortgage interest that is faulty. I asked a question that generated some answers. It took reading a few to discover what the issue was and then with little success in following the directions I discovered another way to delete the form and enter the info manually to eliminate the error finally. What a pain and waste of my time. I understand this is basic software but I also found I had to do some trial and error entries to figure out why I had to pay tax on negative income(business loss). Notations and help were of little use as no form was referred to for the entries required even though it could have mentioned a line from the K-1.
What's great about it: The yellow brick road is yellow .
What's not so great: But some bricks are not smooth.
Pros: I moved
