FIrst Time Experience

This is our first time filing on our own and we were pleased with how simple it was. The program breaks down any tax breaks and explains them so you know if they apply to you. We will definitely become repeat users.
What's great about it: walks you through with explanations, if needed
What's not so great: e-filing seems like kind of a hassle

For the 100-Div, it really unclear that there are entry boxes under the section such as Box 8, Qual Div, etc. One looks at numbers 1, 2, and 3 down the page and wonder what that's for, not seeing that the entries are horizontal.

Aggravating Delays

I had nothing but praise for TurboTax in the 2011 and 2012 tax years. But this year was a nightmare. Instructions seemed to require getting the updates. But the updates wouldn't install. Finally had to uninstall TurboTax and then reinstall it. Finally, the updates installed and the process ended. The process took roughly six hours; I could have driven to the IRS office and back for paper forms and filled them out completely in roughly half the time it took to do it with TurboTax. Yes, I know, I'll get my refund much more quickly. The positive thing in all this was that I didn't lose the data I had entered. I like TurboTax for the most part but can't figure out why the updates caused such a problem.
What's great about it: TurboTax was easy to use, for the most part, and saved me from doing a lot of calculations
What's not so great: It took me about six hours to do the job because of the update requirement. Updates would not install for hours.

What's not so great: Some things were confusing due to a lack of knowledge, with only a general explanation
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Nice to see something work

Simple to use and full of features. It will behoove you to take the time to read some of the details so you understand what you qualify for. The carry over feature from last year saves a ton of time as well.
What's great about it: Easy to use and the carry over feature saves me a ton of time.
What's not so great: Nothing really.

2013 Federal Tax Return

I feel that doing my federal income taxes is a learning experience every year and encourage those that feel confident in their ability to try if you never have and always had a company do it for you!
What's great about it: Enjoy doing my taxes myself
