Unclear as to where Thrift Saving Plan distributions should be entered.
CSR Pensions info is there but a little hard to find especially if it's the first time.
Several times information was entered correctly but showed as an error then entered incorrect info and got the expected error, reentered the original info again and then the error cleared.
Used Turbo tax several times before but never had this kind of problem before. I either overlooked the help number or it was not in the program. FAQ did not help.
What's great about it: Does the math
What's not so great: No info on where to file TSP Distributions. Info entered but did not show up later.

Turbo tax is great for a basic return. If you have a return with anything slightly complicated I say head to a professional and let them do it. Too many things can go wrong without the advice of a professional.
What's great about it: The great thing about Turbo tax is that it takes you step by step
What's not so great: The bad part is when I have an error in the amounts deducted on my W2 it won't transmit til I change amounts.

I use Turbotax Basic and it covers every aspect of my return including stock transactions, rental property and business income. In past years, it actually caught a small mistake I had made with the ACRS depreciation schedule. I recommend Turbotax to everyone who does their own taxes. Even if you use a tax professional, you can save on fees by preparing an initial return and just having them do a review.
What's great about it: Absolutely the easiest tax program I've ever seen, AND it handles every tax situation I've thrown at it.
What's not so great: Can't think of a thing.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

2013 version of TurboTax Basic was smooth use via step by step method, screen changes were instantaneous, prior year info was automatically entered, prompts for entries were excellent, ability to download financial information from financial institutions is critical in saving time completing the forms.
What's great about it: Ease of use, speed of use, coordination with previous years returns
What's not so great: Can't save Electronic Bookmark page in PDF -- could print it

Software for New York state and city taxes are especially confusing. I would be better off just doing it with paper.
What's great about it: None
What's not so great: Outrageously expensive. Confusing. Provides no assistance.

Had trouble understanding the education credit. Tried to search on Turbo Tax, but no information. Went online and able to read how to fill out form 8863. Because I live in Georgia the wording about the Hope was confusing.

Smooth, except for back-tracking

Returning to modify forms 8863, 1098T, and other related information on the federal form was convoluted. Since some values had been set the step-by-step didn't take me to each of them to revise. Viewing forms it seemed I could edit them but sometimes they were read only. If I'd gotten it right the first time through it would have been super easy. Returning to various portions to modify things was inconvenient.
What's great about it: Comprehensive
What's not so great: Returning to modify some things was difficult
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved
