The Best, but Expand Import Options
on April 12, 2014

I had a CPA do my taxes for 2012. Turbo Tax import function would not let me choose my 2011 tax return data to import. I had to manually re-enter the data that would have normally been imported. All the previous years' data was also not imported, so there's only 2013 data on the comparison sheet of previous years income reported and taxes paid.
What's great about it: Intuitive!! and user friendly. I love Turbo Tax.
What's not so great: Import prompts for previous year's data only.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

2013 Turbo Tax
on April 12, 2014

I purchased the 2013 Turbo Tax software in January. I had all my documents in front of me. When I was about to file for my refund the system said that some of the federal forms were not uploaded and I should check back another day. I went back several times and the forms where not there. It would have been nice to get my refund back in January. Not happy at all.
What's great about it: Fast when all forms are in
What's not so great: All forms were not uploded in January

Didn't complete last few steps when the updates window popped up. While it was loading updates, I walked away. The distraction was enough to leave me thinking I was finished. I wasn't.
What's great about it: Step by Step
What's not so great: Updates stalled me out, got distracted, didn't finish, thought it did.

Penalty for No RMD and Form 5329 a problem
on April 12, 2014

I started with the online version of Turbotax. I finished everything and found no way to incorporate a form 5329 to calculate the penalty I had to pay for forgetting to take the RMD from mu IRA. After hours of researching the problem I found a note that told me I had to get the "Desk Top" version. Target had 4 versions of Turbotax for sale but none were called the "Desk Top" version. I bought the "Basic Version". Afterinstalling that, I struggled to transfer what I had done on the online version to my basic version. Finally, after solving that problem I still couldn't find form 5329. After hours of working I got the problem solved. While most of the filing was easy, one form caused me about 8 hours of extra work. It should be easier..
What's great about it: All the normal stuff easy
What's not so great: Penalty for No RMD and Form 5329 a problem

Two returns completed within an hour, and much of that time was spent waiting for updates! I'm sure it can be shorter. The program gets right to the point and lets me choose to be led or go straight to the section I want to work on. I've been using TurboTax for years with no problems. Thanks!
What's great about it: Fast, Easy
What's not so great: None that I can think of

Tough install...

Well, awsome job on preparing my taxes as usual, but what a nightmare loading the CD on my machine. I even took the disk back to Walmart to get an exchange... I could never see the install file... my machine acted like it was a blank CD. After hours of problem report searching, I had to download some 90Meg "fix" file and then it magically installed??? Not a happy camper... hope its better next year!
What's great about it: Normal great job on preparing my taxes.
What's not so great: Install CD had big issues on Windows XP SP3.

One of my partnership investments had a small royalty income item which the program insisted on adding to another royalty interest I own which had noting to do with the partnership. I could find no way to stop this. I finally listed that amount as another type of income account rather than have it added to an unrelated investment.
I reported 3 royalty interests in different properties but the program put one of the royalty interests on another page instead of listed all 3 on the same page. Why I have no idea!
I'm sorry but I found Turbo Tax somewhat harder to use than the one I had used previously.
What's not so great: could not change when the return showed an error
