TurboTax Basic Step Instructions

When I got to the window where I indicated that I had Federal Service prior to 10/1/1991, it took me to the next window telling me that I had checked it. Then the next page said I needed to edit my dates of service. There was one problem, there was no edit button/option. It wasn't until I got on the phone for over 1.5 hr. that I found out that I needed to go to the forms in the upper right side of that window and enter that info in a fill in for. There should have been a "Note" or instruction telling me to go to the forms or if checked that the program would take me right to a page to make those entries.
What's great about it: Customer Service was good.
What's not so great: Poor instructions in Oregon State Return
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

Makes the complexities of the tax code the computers problem. So simple to use.

Did what I paid for

I generally like Turbo Tax because it's easily followed. You can either do a direct input or be guided through all the sections.
What's great about it: Familiarity with program since I used Turbo Tax for over 10 years
What's not so great: Can't find some supporting forms such as Amortization of Pension (1099R from Civil Service)

Mostly smooth

Finding my 2012 info took changing the file type search from the turbotax filetype to "All filetypes". At that point, I was able to access the PDF file with my tax info. It took several minutes to figure this out as i searched multiple hard drives for the info that was actually on the first one I looked at. If you had explained to search for the PDF, or started PDF under the allowed filetypes, this would have gotten a 5-star rating from me.
PS - If you are going to ask for an individual name to note people by, ask for that. asking for a nickname made me try four times before I could enter something that was accepted for this review
What's great about it: Easy to use 90% of the time
What's not so great: Finding previous year's info not intuitive or well-explained

Easy as Ever

Superior tax prep software. Easy to use and the step by step process is very easy to follow. I really like the up to date status of where your refund lies and then the expert checking for errors. Been using it for years and will do so again.
What's great about it: Super details and easy step by step guide.
What's not so great: None to mention

I have used turbo tax for a long time. Even though I hear about free filing on line. I still buy turbo tax because something just tells me the free ones may not be able do everything.
What's great about it: It does all the work
