All the steps for my deductions were there and easy to find and follow. That wasn't the case in previous years. For example, previously it was hard to find where the "volunteer miles' deduction was taken.
The State Sales Tax deduction said that it couldn't be taken because Congress hadn't yet decided. When downloading the updates at the end, and then redoing the Sales Tax deduction, the decision had evidently been made because the calculation was completed.

I rent out 3 rooms of my home, I really struggled with how to calculate expenses and how to depreciate my home. I also don't know if I should have depreciated any of the kitchen appliance or the washer and dryer. I had to read the IRS publication to fill out this part and I was still not sure that I took all the expenses that I could have. I wish you would have a special segment just for renting out part of your home as this must be more common these days.
What's great about it: Performs all calculations and knows the tax code
What's not so great: Not enough help on renting 2 rooms in my home
Unlike previous years, this edition treats civil service annuities as if they are subject to RMD's. It is non-sensical and we deleted everything and entered it again thinking we had miscategorized it. Same problem the second time--kept telling us at age 701/2 an RMD was required. Also, kept questioning the taxable portion.
What's great about it: Walk thru of all possible income and deductions
What's not so great: Treating pension like an IRA with RMD requirements
