Make it easier to bypass the state tax as Tennessee doesn't require the "state tax" portion....Thanks!

Have used Turbo Tax for years and it has always done a great job for me. Walks you right through everything you need to consider and provides help at key points.
What's great about it: Easy software to do Federal Return
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Works But Always Some Context Corrections Needed
on April 14, 2014

Importing info from a previous year always ends up in out of context corrections that must be made during the searching for errors phase. This happens to me every year and always leaves me guessing.
A worksheet from a previous year gets imported and then I am asked to fill in missing information even though that information may not be necessary this year and even though I did not indicate the need for the information in the deductions questions screens, for example.
Often there is no help available for these DEMANDED corrections and no skip button to correct what I do know how to correct and no back button to go to the original input screens to try to figure things out. I have only the option to enter a number and choose the equivalent of "okay."
Since the program is prompting me all along the way, it is unfair to throw these out of context corrections at me with no way to be educated about what they mean and no way to zero them out.
If I do click through them and go back to the actual original input screens, often the thing I am asked to correct is "hidden" under layers of other requested information, and it takes time to figure it out, especially when it was not even an option I needed to fill in in the first place.
In short, there is some ghost information from a previous year's file that there is no easy way for a novice to root out and remove or even know it is there.
What's great about it: Software helps me complete my taxes independently and relatively easily
What's not so great: Importing info from previous year creates issues when software searches for errors

Problematic in 2013

I had a very hard time getting the program to work. It would not install correctly to allow it to register and get updates. I kept getting an error message that blamed the IRS for not having updated the forms.....when the problem was really the TT software. On April 14, the error message still blamed the IRS?
Your program became a major headache for me this year. Based on the blogs, many people using MACs had the same problem getting the updates.
Tax season is hard. You made it harder this year.
What's great about it: Use to the program from years of use
What's not so great: Could not get updates! Error messages.

It would be helpful if you explain why STD deduction was the optimal choice.
What's great about it: ADP Download
What's not so great: You can not print the itemized deduction calculation vs STD

Over all process was quick and made the filing process smooth. Filing electronically is a big plus factor. Especially for Florida because there is no individual state tax calculation.
What's great about it: Logical process for all income and deductions.
What's not so great: Back tracking was somewhat cumbersome when editing.

Faithful to Turbotax

I have been filing my return with Turbotax since college. Every year my return gets more complicated, but it never seems like a big deal because Turbotax is so easy to use.
I once tried a competitor's software and returned it due to an error in the software. It was also not as easy to use.
I recommend Turbotax to everyone.
What's great about it: easy, reliable
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

We have used TT for many, many years. Whether we had a lot of issues to cover or not so many now that we've retired, the program always worked very well for us
What's great about it: Very good program
What's not so great: Had a problem finding my AGI
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
