TOO TIME COMSUMING

THIS YEARS VERSION WAS THE WORST YET WITH TOO MANY UPDATES IN ORDER TO GET TAXES DONE. IT WULD BE BETTER TO RECEIVE TURBO TAX LATER IN THE YEAR THAN BE STOPPED SO OFTEN FOR AN UPDATE.
THE UPDATES DID DOWNLOAD FASTER THIS YEAR ON A POSITIVE NOTE.
What's great about it: I CAN WORK FROM MY DESK AT HOME
What's not so great: IT IS LABOROUS WITH ALL OF THE UPDATES NEEDED TO COMPLETE TAX RETURN

I love the setup for itemized deductions--especially because the information transfers over from the previous year.
What's great about it: Easy setup for deductions
What's not so great: So many options, and sometimes the explanations are confusing
Pros: I moved

Great for Federal Filing

I have used TurboTax for years and expect to continue doing so. The ability to import data and being guided through the process are very helpful.
For the first time, however, I was unable to e-file my nonresidential state return. (I noticed that this affected other taxpayers who are living overseas.) I trust that TurboTax will fix this problem next year.
What's great about it: Easy to collect information and file federal return
What's not so great: Could not e-file my nonresidential state return

Easy to navigate, particularly going back and forth from interview format to seeing your forms/worksheets in progress.....running total of refund or taxes due is a helpful feature......
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo tax has made made doing my taxes very easy. I do not have to calculate or work hard at figuring m refund or payment.
I would highly recommend Turbo Tax to anyone I know.

Got my refund and a headache....

I have to say that overall it was an easy process but I did hit a few glitches. When I went to review my tax form the system would not tell me what the error was and refused to allow to go further. I also attempted to update it and it would not update until the next day. That was the most frustrating part because there was no guidance in helping me fix the errors. It just there is an error, find it on your own.
What's great about it: I enjoyed being guided through the process of my tax returns and it made the process seem easier.
What's not so great: My system did not update properly until 12 hours later. This lead me to being frustrated.

Someone needs to error check 1040 when used with a foreign address and job. Small but annoying example... Turbo Tax does accept my foreign address but not my phone number. It only accepts North American phone numbers...so you have to make one up or give someone elses in the US...without saying it is theirs. Other difficulties with US social security and also foreign retirement as part of a job...no where to record that and there is a penalty if you do not. Etc.
What's great about it: does provide scaffolding and helpful questions
What's not so great: still does not perfectly fit US citizens who live and work abroad and yet file with the IRS.
