No pain tax return!

TurboTax is very easy to use and helped me negotiate the mountain of federal tax regulations with simple, easy to understand questions. It was fast, through, and most importantly allowed me to accurately file my return. I would recommend TurboTax to anyone who is preparing their own taxes!
What's great about it: Easy to use and fast!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have been using Turbo Tax since you purchased Parsons (Sp?), and it has continually improved every year. You make this most complex of a citizens duties almost easy. Thanks!

Couldn't do without it but...

Struggled this year with entering info for tax credit & deduction for college tuition. 2 kids = 2 1098-T forms. Both 1098-T forms showed what was billed & scholarship amount, not what was actually paid in 2013. But then I saw an instruction saying I needed to enter what I paid in 2013. And I could find nothing in the interview that allowed me to enter that info; had to go to Forms (& find the right worksheet) to make that entry. Then when I got that entered, things still did not seem to be working right. Finally I figured out that TurboTax was assuming that the amount paid to the school included the scholarship amount - even tho' the $$ were from the school & never passed thru my hands. After I got that all worked out, things looked good: appropriate credits for both kids. Finished the interview & then at the very last step #well beyond entering the tuition credit data# TurboTax did a review & suddenly I had one tution credit & one tuition deduction. Never could figure out the logic of why one tuition credit suddenly changed to a deduction (I guess "ask the IRS") but it did save me a few $$. Maybe my problem is that I expect some logic to apply. C'est la vie.
What's great about it: I can get my taxes done; have used for years, Thank you.
What's not so great: Frustrated at times because I cannot see what is being done behind the screen. Some things just don't make sense.

Had To Pay More Taxes

I have used the Turbo Tax programs since 1997, both the Basic and the Deluxe. I have found the programs very easy to navigate and input my information. And each year they seem to be getting easier and easier. They are very user friendly. I have introduced family members, friends, and even strangers to the Turbo Tax family of software and they have all offered strong praise for how easy it was to use. For the first time since I began using the product, I had to pay more taxes for 2013. This was not the fault of the program, but the changes that have occurred in my income. I will continue to recommend Turbo Tax to anyone that decides to do their own taxes.
What's great about it: Easy to use and gets easier each year.
What's not so great: Had difficulty finding the way to cancel the filing extension as I did not require it after all.

Very helpful but in need of improvement

Turbo tax is always a helpful method of filing taxes. It helps you understand how to answer all of the questions and fill out the w2 form without paying someone else to do it for you. The only issue that I've had this year, and this issue occurred with two separate tax returns that I attempted to file. I got an alert saying that there was an update needed to be able to file the returns however when I ran the updates and tried filing again I got the same error message. I ended up having to send both returns in via mail.
What's great about it: Its a helpful way to help me understand the best way to fill out my w2.
What's not so great: It would not allow me to submit my forms electronically because it said I needed updates when there were no updates.
