1013 Turbo Experience

Another pleasant experience in filing. No complaints. HInts are useful, carrying over information from previous years filings accelerates the process greatly. The ability to import data from organizations where we have investments greatly reduces the likelihood of errors.
What's great about it: Quick, very straight forward, handles all types of income.
What's not so great: None

we have used TurboTax for several years and have recommended it to several people.
What's great about it: Easy to use, easy to follow, helpful at each step
What's not so great: litle confusion when time to file and save

foreign income exclusion needs explanation

The foreign income exclusion is not really explained well. We had to spend quite a bit of time outside of TT to figure out what it was doing to calculate our tax.

I'm retired but have e-published. Filled the 1099-misc. info but then had to file that I'm self employed. Okay... so far. But it kept telling me I had to check a box at the top of the Sched. C to indicate my business address and personal address were the same. Well, no such box existed in what I was being shown. Had to fish around, trying out a few things and finally wrote in "same" on the bottom line I was being shown despite the fact that the instructions told me it was a box at the top of the form. Most confusing.

Quick and Easy

I have been using TurboTax for over 15 years. I find it incredibly easy to use. Just answer the questions and enter the numbers. TurboTax fills out all the forms and does all the math.
For those who are deciding which product to buy, I found TurboTax Basic has everything I need as a typical homeowner with a family. Start there, if you find you need a higher level you have the option of upgrading.
TurboTax has the ability to import W-2 information from your employer and this year I used the import tool for the 1099's from my bank and brokerage. Wow, did that make that painless.
Overall, great product, highly recommended.

Turbo tax gets worse every year

I've been using Turbo Tax for 12 years. This is the worst version I've ever seen. This year it tried to add a schedule C to my return--I was an employee only. Turbo Tax couldn't seem to understand that i did not own or run a business in 2013. I had to pay an accountant to fix the return on Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: None i can think of
What's not so great: Gets more user unfriendly every year
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
