STILL HAVE MY 1996 TURBO TAX CD. NOT SURE WHEN I FIRST USED TTAX PROGRAMS, BUT I'M SURE I WON'T BE CHANGING ANYTIME SOON.
GREAT STEP-BY-STEP QUESTIONS & HELP. THE BEST PART IS THAT THE FILING CHARGE IS INCLUDED IN THE CD VERSION. I'VE BEEN RETIRED FOR 22 YRS DO NOT NEED ANY EXTRA COSTS REARING IT'S HEAD.
NO MAJOR COMPLAINTS. THE DOCUMENT PRINT AREA GETS A LITTLE CONFUSING BUT IT'S BETTER THIS YEAR.

I had to use the VT state website to determine what I needed to enter, how to calculate the amount, and pretty much everything else. I spent extra money hoping that TurboTax would simplify the hard part of my tax return, and it didn't- I had to all the work myself, just as if I hadn't spent extra money. The only thing it did do was print the state forms nice and pretty.
I'm sticking with TurboTax for my Federal return next year, but it's kinda useless for the Vermont income tax. I hope others have better luck with their states.
What's great about it: Easy to use on the federal side
Suggest you check on the above CON comment. TT asked you to enter email address so you could be sent this info when it was ready--certainly by 12-31-2013-didn't look like that portion had been reviewed prior to being finalized for publication!.
What's great about it: Thorough, user-friendly, quick (if you have receipts!), so helpful to be able to file electronically--Overall great
What's not so great: No complete info on deduction for State Sales Tax Deduction, although a figure was supplied if you didn't have State tax
