Years ago I use Jackson Hewitt or H&R Block and had to pay way more that the cost of Turbo Tax. The step by step process makes it so easy to use and I have been using it for years now. I've never had an issue with the IRS and I totally trust Turbo Tax. Thank you so much for such a great program. I will continue to be a faithful customer for life.
What's great about it: All of the program is awesome and simple to use.
What's not so great: None

Quicken download
on March 2, 2014

from Fort Worth, TX
I downloaded the information from quicken. Last year it posted sales taxes into the appropriate area. This year it did not post it at all causing me to have to review every other category to verify that all information was downloaded. Additionally, the Schedule C was unclear. I had revenues that exceeded expenses but the schedule showed no income. It was a result of expense carryovers but I had to figure that out as it was not clear without reviewing the actual forms.
I have used turbotax for many years and have been extreemely pleased with it. This is the first year that I have experienced any challenges.
What's great about it: comfortable with tax rules issues
What's not so great: Quicken download was questionable
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Pros: I moved

State Information gathering
on March 2, 2014
Posted by: DBHIJLXYZ
from Denver, CO
The problem was in entering the non-Colorado tax exempt information. The information I attempted to enter was unacceptable.
WHAT IS SO IMPORTANT ABOUT A NICKNAME? I DO NOT HAVE ONE. SO, WHY DO YOU NEED ONE. IRRITATED.
What's great about it: Experience doing the federal tax was good.
What's not so great: Experience providing state information was bad.

Turbo Tax is ok
on March 2, 2014

Why do we have to continually check for updates in March after starting the process in February. After all, what if I had completed my taxes in February? Would they have been incorrect?
What's great about it: It got the job done
What's not so great: Check Updates can be really annoying

taxes are complicated
on March 2, 2014

Taxes are so complicated, I could get through the forms, but turbo tax just makes it easier and less frustrating. I pay for the software and then I fill in the blanks. It is a lot easier that turbo tax picks out information from the prior year. It is user friendly and worth the cost of program for me.
What's great about it: couldn't do my taxes without turbo tax and user friendly screens
What's not so great: wish there was a way to pick a deduction without going through all of them
