Insufficient Explanations

This year withheld insufficiently on extraordinary income (IRA withdrawal) and thus I owe this year but TurboTax automatically presumes same will occur next year and thus proceeds to quarterly estimated Voucher payments for following year without any questions or explanations. My underwithholding was caused by incorrect (I guess) use of TurboTax to try to estimate correct withholding for this year.
This product is of no use to safely predict special withholdings.

What's great about it: Ease of data entry
What's not so great: Lacks info &/or explanations regarding extraordinary income and impact on next year.

I have used you over the years from Premier to Deluxe now currently using Basic. All have been very straightforward and easy to understand. Thank you! You've saved me many dollars in processing fees and have been very accurate in exemptions and credits!

I like the download capability for obtaining information from Fidelity to automatically fill-in the appropriate tax forms. This eliminates a lot of work and chances for errors. Good job.

I've used Turbo Tax (and MacIntax before that) for over 20 years total and it continually has gotten easier to use. To be fair, my return has also gotten simplier by far.
There was one major omission in Turbo-Tax this year which is probably a non-issue. Regardless, it makes me uneasy. I received Mortgage Assistance Paments form 1099-MA from my lender after a refinance and reduction in loan principal under Nevada Hardest Hit. There was NO place to reflect the 1099-MA in Turbo Tax. A web searched revealed many people with the same problem and a myriad of different answers. The best one I could come up with was to ignore it. Given that I was told that the mortgage reduction was tax neutral, I did just that. Well, I get to worry about this now for a few years waiting to see if one of those lovely letters from the IRS shows up. Thanks.

Great Program

The program updates as the laws change so you know you are getting the most accurate information. I felt good about the entire process and believe I did just as good a job as a professional tax preparer would have done.
What's great about it: Walks you thru everything and will explain it.

After collecting all of my itemized elements, TT suggested using the standard deduction would be more beneficial. Who doesn't want more money! If I would've done my taxes manually, it would've taken even more time and effort. That's the beauty of TT. It saves time and energy by thoroughly covering every aspect of the money I spent.
I rated a "4" because of the inconvenience of having to update, then wait to submit.
What's great about it: Always good.
What's not so great: Had to wait to submit my return, but it was Uncle Sam's late updates! not TurboTax.
