These filters work very well, especially where we live and the water is not as pure as I would prefer before it even comes into our home, but the Filter addresses our Community Water Purification problems.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Water filter doesn't last 6 months

This is the fifth filter bought so far in the period of 2 years.. The first lasted almost six month without reduce the power of the water flow. Unfortunately the next three filters reduced the water flow after the third month. One time, I requested an early delivery since the flow of the water was very slow. It took over a minute to fill out a normal water botle. It doesn't last six months as recomended on the website.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to write your review on your refrigerator. We’re sorry to hear your filter needs to be replaced frequently. Although the filter lasts, on average, for 6 months, replacement is recommended if your water flow or ice production begins to slow down. Since you are experiencing a shorter filter life, the installation of a water filtration system on the water line to your house may be a better long term investment, worth consideration.
The following is a list of steps that you can take to test your water for hardness:
• If you live in a municipal area, contact your local water company.
• If you live in a rural area, or some suburban areas, contact your local water company or a county extension agent.
• Have your water tested by a laboratory.
• You can have your household tap water tested for hardness, dissolved solids, iron, PH, and amount of corrosiveness by an independent, EPA certified laboratory.
Soft water is 0-3 grains.
Medium water is 3-7 grains.
Hard water is 7-12 grains.
Anything over 12 grains is extremely hard and a water softener is recommended.

After struggling to get other brand to fit properly I bought GE's filter and had no problem installing. The water tastes better, ice is better and I feel better that the water is clean.
