Way over priced.

It's a water filter, easy to install and thats about it. I found them cheaper at a box store after purchasing it from GE.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Made the ice maker quit working.

After installing my new water filter my ice maker completely stopped working. Now we are without an ice maker. It was working fine before the refill was installed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

You can also try inserting a bypass plug in place of your filter to see if this helps with the issue. If it does, your filter or filter housing may be damaged or your filter clogged. If a bypass plug does not help the issue, we'd recommend reaching out to our service team for further help. They can be found here: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm
If you need the bypass plug and one was not supplied with the refrigerator or has been misplaced, one can be ordered at no charge by calling 1-800-GECARES (1-800-432-2737). In Canada, call 800-561-3344.

Good product but no longer recyclable

Product seems to work fine. It is easy to install but it's terrible that GE discontinued a recycling program that they used to have. There is an online GE press release from 2011 that gives a now non-working phone # to call for a recycling kit. These filters are a lot of plastic. GE shouldn't have discontinued a recycling program that said it would eliminate 85% of the plastic waste. Now they've increased plastic waste by 85%! Not a good look GE! It's 2022.

Does not fit

Bought this filter from my GE repair man and he could not get it in. He said it was a problem with the refrigerator. Had another repair man here and said nothing wrong with fridge but this filter is the wrong part. According to this website and my model number it is the correct filter but it definitely does not fit.

Please fix the packaging!

The product is standard and works fine, but this packaging is near impossible to open! Nearly every time, someone in my household cuts themselves trying to open it.
I would recommend this to a friend!
