GE Water Filter

I have these shipped to me on an auto ship program. I am supposed to replace them every six months in my fridge. However, they only last about 3-4 months before my fridge gives me the notice that they need to be changed. Maybe due to lots of minerals in our water?

This is our 2nd filter in our GE Refrigerator. The first one lasted far longer than advertised producing quality water and ice cubes.
