Beware of faulty icemaker

After 2 years the ice maker kept getting the ice stuck. At first I would unjam it and reset it, but it became too frequent. There is a fix for it, but it's costly and only a bandaid. Apparently there are many people with this issue

Hello there! I'd like to help you here. If there's ice stuck, put out the ice bucket and clean it away with a warm damp piece of cloth, then put it back in. Set the temperature to 37º F for the refrigerator and 0º F for the freezer. Verify if the ice bucket sits flush up correctly against the ice chute to ensure a better operation (if there aren't so, check this link: https://bit.ly/2Qa0YJh). The wife and I bought this right at 3 weeks ago. Setup and use is fast and easy. Cooled quickly. Took a day to start making ice but that is understandable. So far we are impressed with the look, feel and presentation. By that I mean the black stainless is just beautiful, the shiny front so far is not fingerprint magnets and the look without the handles is just gorgeous and takes up much less room than our old fridge with big front handles. I have one con that I can come up with. The doors don't close easily. Instead of just closing when you kinda push them, there is a "hump" you have to get past. If you don't push hard enough the doors will bounce back open. Maybe this is so you don't slam the doors every time you close them. I'm really not sure but if you aren't careful, you will have an open door. There is an alarm setting you can do to alert you of an open door but it's still annoying to make sure they close. However, that's all I can come up with to complain about at this point, so, not bad! I will say the crushed ice takes forever to come out and fill a glass but I gotta say it's worth is as the ice is really "soft". Those of you getting older and worrying about breaking teeth from crunching ice will love this! I sure do. I'm not sure how this happens but it happens in every glass of ice. No problem crunching them! So far, I'd give this a 4.5. Our last fridge lasted 18 years so we'll see how this one does.
Ps... I wish I was a compensated reviewer. Must be nice. Lol, well, at least we got a good discount for the Labor Day sales.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Ice Maker Design Defective
on October 5, 2018

The ice maker design needs a major FIX to prevent new ice getting jammed inside unit while being discharged into ice tray. My RF23J9011SG is 22 months old and requires maintenance every 7-10 days to remove jammed ice. Last week a new disease appeared when it started making a very loud, audible hum that was annoying. Hummed for 4-5 hours and then suddenly stopped. Hum stops when door refrigerator door opened Over next few days observed that hum stops when tray is full but starts again when ice extracted thru door port. Community forum indicates this is one of several symptoms with poor design. Will contact Samsung for FIX and if not responsive will join Class Action Suit against Samsung.

Love the four doors!

Bought this as part of a whole-kitchen remodel and for the most part I am very pleased. Runs quietly. You get the benefit of french doors on the top, but without having to have a heavy freezer drawer on the bottom to pull out. Plus, if you have limited clearance in the front, as I do, this fridge is great for that too. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that I seem to have less space in the door shelves for small items than in my previous side by side. Also, the way the interior shelves are configured, there's not a lot of room for really tall things, like wine bottles. We have to lay them on their side.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Don't buy this refrigerator until Samsung has fixed the ice maker problem. There is a class action lawsuit in the works.

Doors surface

Brought this 4 months ago the doors keep showing within just 2 months with defect they did replace do to ice maker and hard smudge looks like scratches but there not . I’m using only the spray the recommended to clean. The replacement after just two months is showing again some 5 or 6 dots deep that I can’t get out. To me looks like after cleaning the last couple of weeks that the surface coating was hiding the defect . Will call samsung to send a tech to validate.

Don't buy if you like a working ice maker

There is an open class action against Samsung because the ice maker freezes up into a giant block of ice. That has been my experience, too. Of course, it happened after the warranty expired. My understanding from research is that the piping that feeds the ice maker runs through the freezer was built without proper insulation, resulting in freezing.
