Terrible design - consistently problematic
on September 12, 2022
Posted by: Terrible design

this fridge had problems from the beginning. keeping the ice maker in the fridge part was definitely bad design. icemaker constantly freezing up, inconsistent temperatures in both fridge and freezer that led to veggies and other groceries rotting and being wet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The ice maker on this fridge continually freezes over. As a result, the fans in the fridge also freeze over. I can force a defrost on the control panel, but I have to do this several times a month. It makes a really loud beeping noise for about an hour every time you do this. I've had it "fixed" several times; this has made no difference. Don't but Samsung fridges.

Hello there. We are glad for your review. Let me go ahead and check why your ice maker is freezing.
Moisture forms in the fridge when warm air enters through a door left open, warm or hot items are stored inside, or compartments are not sealing properly. Please see these links for details.

A refrigerator is never completely quiet, even when it's new. New fridges may be louder as they settle into place. Still, noises from your ice maker or the compressor should never get so loud that it's interrupting the conversation. Please see this link for details.

I bought this 4 years ago. Overall it's a great looking refrigerator, however, the ice maker stopped working about a year after I purchased it. Trying to warranty it was such a big headache, I decided to just deal with it. I was told by friends that own one as well that they too had problems with the ice maker. I regret not following through with the warranty as I had to buy a counter ice maker.

Your opinion of your refrigerator s important to us. Bianca.
For the ice maker to operate properly, a water pressure of 20-125 psi (138 ~ 862 kPa) is required.

Still having the same problem that I reported a month ago; I just spent almost an hour with a hair dryer removing all the ice (not frost) blocking the ice maker - "We have had this refrigerator for several years and at first we really liked it. It is spacious, well designed, and the cooling works great. However, if I knew then what I know now, we wouldn't have purchased it. Starting about a year or so after we bought it, the ice maker would get clogged with ice and I would have to chip the ice out with a screwdriver to fix it. More recently, I have to use a hairdryer every 3-4 weeks to remove the ice, which is very annoying. Note that many other people have complained about this problem with the icemaker, both on the Samsung website and on other websites. If anyone has a solution for this problem, please let me know. I have searched but not found any solutions."
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
