This product is easy to connect and use

This blu-ray player hooks up so easy, even via wifi! It will play everything from DVDs on up and the quality is great! There are even options to stream premium programming if you want to sign up for their subscriptions. It's a big deal in a small package!
Pros: Quality, Features/Settings, easy to use, Style/Design

Compact Surprise Blue-ray Player

I searched several brand players specs. and reviews before choosing a LG BP550. I was impressed with it's small size compared to my BP750. Hook-up was much easier than expected. Almost a plug and play machine. Written instructions were easy to follow and the HDMI hook-up is the only way to go anymore because it surely brings your TV to life. The remote has all the necessary features and the on screen prompts are adequate. Also the price is attractive.

I was given this gift and I was very excited. So far the YouTube feature and watching DVDs Works wonderfully. The netflix however is awful. It buffers constantly I can't get even a minute of uninterrupted show. Where as on my other device (Wii) Netflix plays with zero faulty. As I type this my screen has frozen all together.
Pros: Quality

suggestion for SmartShare software

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It would be nice if SmartShare had a 'darker' theme. The current theme is almost white, or a pale pink. When playing music from a computer or whatever, the SmartShare screen must be on the monitor the whole time. At night, the almost white, full screen SmartShare view is way too bright and lights up the whole room. Maybe a dark screen saver would work, or a dark theme of some kind? But as it is now, if I want to have some music on in the evenings, I have to look at that bright, full screen, filling up the TV, lighting up the room. If I want to play an album, or a symphony, or whatever, something of some length, that bright white-ish, almost pink, full screen glare is really too much.

Amazing images

I bought this because my blu-ray discs deliver wonderful image and sound. It was easy to install and it is easy to use. The other features will take some time to learn, and they look like a great bonus.

Great for US made Blu Ray Discs

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this because I have some blu ray discs that were made in the UK and want to be able to play them. So far I have tried to play them and have been unable to. My British DVD's play well, so that's no problem. If there's another way to achieve it I'm willing to try, I have changed the nation of origin to UK. It's more expensive than a regular player which is why I bought this particular model.

Internet and apps do not work well

I bought this to use with a television that does not have internet capabilities so I could see streaming content. . I had a ten year old player that did the same thing and thought I would replace it. Newer has to be better right? Wrong. The LG would freeze while watching Subscription streaming apps. The controls for all aspects of the device were extremely slow and when it froze I would have to unplug it and restart to get it working again. So bad that I plugged the 10 year player back in and and it works great. I will be returning the LG to the store.
