This is the third Bravia that Ive purchased and by far the best of the lot. The colors are great and seem to pop off the screen. Watching sports is great and I anxiously await the upcoming football season to check out the footbal mode on this set.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bad Sound

Problem with the sound transmission. Volume varies from high to low or in between on its own accord. Background music for many programs
is louder than the voices speaking. Much audio gets drowned out unless
volume is cranked up to 55 or 60-and that becomes VERY annoying.
Picture size for some programming is larger than the frame size without
my setting it up that way. Have had three Sony TVs in this house at one time and this one is the worst.
Don't know what "presale feedback" means even if it is "required".
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Extremely clear picture, realistic skin tones

Extremely clear picture, very realistic and consistent skin tones right out of the box. With the many advantages of Wi-Fi (or plugged in with LAN), which is just icing on the cake, I think this Sony KDL40W600B is easily the best deal out there in this price range.
COLORS - I’ve always been picky about accurate skin tones and color, even before it became part of my job in post-production video. On other TVs, including a very good quality widescreen, I was often changing color settings to compensate for different TV shows or movies but I rarely have to now, it somehow just stays consistent, even without their “Skin Naturalizer” on but apparently that helps too. The review that said it didn’t have good skin tones and reds were not accurate, must be a defective TV or before an update fix because that’s not an accurate description of the TV I have, there’s definitely nothing wrong with those issues on mine.
SPEAKERS - Audio is average for tiny speakers in these very thin TVs which also have thinner frames now, there’s just no room for big speakers. I connected to my Denon stereo which allows input from TV headphone jack and it sounds awesome. TV has volume and on-off setting for that jack. Luckily my Denon has that unusual input since this TV doesn’t have RCA outputs but it has optical audio out if you have input jack for it.
REMOTE - It’s generally okay but channel changes could be much easier. Other brands allow changes with 1 digit instead of 3, as in entering 36 instead of 36.1. Picture settings also require an extra step but not too bad. The audio settings with 7 band EQ is nice though.
FREE APPS - Many free apps offer free and paid movies and TV shows, among many other things. Choices for free movies is bad but some excellent choices in free TV shows for different tastes in “Crackle” app, all with minimal commercials. A YouTube app allows syncing computer to TV and playing videos on it via WiFi. Pandora app is great, much less commercials than computer version. Amazon Instant Video works great, no freezing up on my 16 Mbps connection. Sony’s “Video Unlimited” app almost identical in price and selection and works just as well.
REFRESH RATE - A lot of disagreement on refresh rate on this model. All I know is that after watching football on it, it looks perfectly fine and the average person will have no problem with it. Some people probably get spoiled by a TV with perfect refresh rate so notice lesser quality, I hope that never happens to me.
VIEWING ANGLE - Color loss may be an issue for some people if it’s viewed at a big angle. I notice a very slight loss in overall color when about 6 feet off center on a couch 8 feet away but it’s not that drastic. If about 8 feet off center it’s noticed a lot, like someone just turned the color down a little, but not terrible.
STAND - Bad design. The metal stand has a silver finish that gets too much reflection from screen since most of it is in front of it to help prevent tip-over accidents. Good safety idea, wrong color. It’s probably just distracting in darker rooms and wouldn’t be an issue if room is fairly bright, I tend to like it a bit darker. Since this was only thing I didn’t like and I’m the fix-it type, I just took stand off (2 screws), sprayed semi-gloss black on it and it easily came out looking like Sony did it, reflection gone. I know, painting it sounds ridiculous but when you’re the fix-it type, it’s just a non-issue and I’m happy with it now.

I thought the picture would have better "realness". It was the first time I was disappointed with a Sony. Next time I will go with a Samsung.

Excellent Smart HDTV

I have owned this tv for about 7 months now and I absolutely love it. The picture is incredible and the sound is very good. I have a pair of Yamaha external speakers but most of the time I use the TV speakers.
I really appreciate having 4 HDMI ports for my external devices.
I was having some connectivity problems that interferred with the Smart TV function. I decided the problem was with my router and hardwired my router to the TV via an ethernet cable and that solved the problem completely.
I also like being able to ""tweak" the TV to my hearts content.
I have only positive things to say about this TV and highly recommend it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not the best picture quality, and it was advertised as 1080 but was 720 picture quality.

The TV shipped and was to us so fast I was surprised. We were able to opent he box and get it set up and running right away - easy, easy, easy. The picture and sound are great - we could not be happier!
