picture's great, but

Great picture but using the remote is frustrating. Never have I used a remote with such a delay in response. Unbelievable. I should have first subscribed to consumer's report to get a better suited tv.

25 years of Sony products, this one disappoints
on September 26, 2014

Maybe, it was the purchase from a Coast Guard base, frame was broken and I missed one day on the 14 day return policy. I discovered it while dusting and I purchased while at home visiting. Manager advised me to call Sony. Sony informed me that it was cosmetic if the screen was still working. I could not tell on the 15th day. I do not take pleasure in watching nor do I like the sound. I really didn't have anything to measure against . My living room Sony is a 55 inch that I purchased 5 years ago and it sounds and looks better. I'm sorry but I can not endorse this product. Sony did say that they could give me an authorized dealer and I could personally repair the product.

Not a Computer, Good Pic and Sound
on October 2, 2014

I returned a similarly spec'd Samsung smart TV and exchanged it for the Sony. The Sony has a better picture, none of the fake looking glare that makes every show look like a cheap soap opera or old British sitcom. I am not generally happy with the operational features. This is a essentially a computer with a big screen, why not spec it like a good computer with fast access speed? All these computer features that just all work so poorly. Turning the TV on and flipping channels is really slow, such a step backwards from analog TV. Options like Netflix are not accessible for the first 60-90 seconds until the unit fully boots up. Software updates take a long time to load. Using the channel guide takes a long time to load too, it is not worth using. The logical flow of the menus aren't the easiest to follow, although I really only used them when I set it up many months ago. I wish the menus and features were much more simple and I think that their energy should have been put into better processing. I was hoping to do screen mirroring with my Iphone, an advertised feature. The app required was horrible and the functionality was useless. It seems apple TV is the only good option for this feature. The web browsing, social linking ...etc is also useless without a mouse or keyboard interface. I tried to plug in a wireless mouse, but just isn't meant to take one. The sound is good. The set up of the remote works quite well, the buttons are where they should be. The unit does what it is supposed to as a TV and was well priced, no major complaints, no major praises. I just wish they would either commit to it being a computer or just leave it alone as a TV.

Sony's lost it

Picture fine. Too aggravating navigating with the remote. The engineers were on something to allow this to be sold as is. There is such a delay between hitting certain buttons and the response you have to develop a feel how to work it. I just bought a new LG tv and paid much less for a better quality tv without the Sony remote delay experience. Sony used to be tops. I won't buy Sony again.

Great LED TV
on April 26, 2014

Bought this last night, and since it only weighs less than 20 lbs with the box, loaded into my car. Unpacked it, plopped the batteries in the remote, put the base on with 2 screws, connected the power cord and I was on my way. The only thing I had to do was to type in the Router Key to stream WIFI. Clicked the Netflix button on the remote and voila, the TV was working perfect even without the need for a cable set top box. A perfect solution for my daughter who plays PS3 games and watches Netflix.

a little disappointing

I ran across a online deal for this tv and didn't have much time to give it a thorough research, and the reviews I seen were good.
I bought this tv online and went to the store to pick it up. Got it home, set up was easy for the wi-fi, but because I don't have hi def cable service/box I hooked the tv up using coax cable. I could not get it to work, strike one. I then was able to get the component cables to work. My next problem is wanting me to take the tv back. As another commentor said he had trouble with changing picture size. I counted 13 clicks for me to go to settings and get the pic I need then backtrack to what I wanted to watch. This is ridiculous. My previous tvs had this function on the remote.
The component hookup disables some sound and picture settings.
My Directtv box does not have a hdmi connection

Great picture, easy set-up

This is my first LED TV so I am very impressed with picture and the slimness and weight of set. Easy set up. Remote needs getting used to, they have designed it so you have a set of navigation circle buttons inside another.
You can get a better price for this at a smaller retailer like Star electronics in T.O $599 is more reasonable. 40" set are getting harder to find especially if you are staying away from South Korean Brands (Samsung, LG) - South Korea has one of the worst records for animal welfare so I don't buy their products.
Over-all great TV, enjoy.
