Replacement for 13yr old Sony WEGA XBR big tube. Excellent budget priced tv, great picture, sound is not fantastic but if connected to home theater it's a non-issue.

Not the best SMART TV fro SONY

I got my TV after a prolonged wait and finally i received it yesterday. It tooke me 10 min to hook up on the table top stand. Here are my review comments which might be helpful and trust me i am really not satisfied with some of the things where my expectations were rally high with Sony.
CONS: Worst internet browser - Opera - I dont know who in the world uses an opera browser.i typed google and when clicked on to search, nothing happens.the page stays there itself.so i had to rype directly on the address bar to go to a website. Next big negative is the browser does not support Flash or HTML5 content. When every other site on this whole world uses flash and html content, why can't sony or opera support this? What is the point of having an in built wi-fii, which cannot support or stream online content seamlessly?Atleast sony could have given a chrome browser that simply does the magic.
Screen Mirroring: Does not support just any device and is very restricted to mostly sony mobile products.
USB Lag- when i connected my seagate external hdd to the tv, it takes really a lot of time to read the files and does not even read the folder structure which is again really bad for anyonw who can have a huge content on the hdd to stream onto tv.
wi-di- Lastly i was excited when i read about wi-di technology that you can stream anything from your device wirelessly to the TV since the TV is a Wi-DI enabled. But i was not happy that you need your device to support the feature as well since this technology is supported only on the latest intetl i3.i5,i7 processors only.So anyone who is looking to connect wirelesslt to the tv, don't be surprised that you might not be able to do that so easily. So the last resort is back to HDMI conenctivity.
Conclusion: SONY offers the best products when it comes to the colors and sound and that is what i like about sony. However, we are in 2014 where we have advanced in many areas in electronics and it's not that sony cannot afford to give realistic and useful features to consumers like me who love the brand.
So my recommendation is if you are willing to buy sony for color and picture quality and sound, go for it.But if you want user friendly features like the browser support and usb conductivities etc... think about it.

I love my new SONY 48" TV. It was so lightweight. It came out of the box, onto my dresser in my bedroom, hooked up in a flash and produced top quality picture and sound. The price was right. I could not be more pleased! Overall excellent TV. Have bought Sony TV's previously. Never a problem Great quality.
This supposed "smart" TV was working fine for a few months. Then all of a sudden the screen froze a couple times while watching YouTube. I had to unplug everything and plug back in to get it to work. Then a few days later, it just didn't turn on at all and a red light was flashing. I called Sony and was told the call volume was extra high and someone would call me back within 24-48 hours. Sony didn't call me back until 10 days later. In the meantime, my husband called another # for Sony and was on the phone over an hour with some guy who was telling him to press these buttons on the remote. That didn't work. The Sony rep told us that a Sony engineer will be calling us. That was 5 days ago and we still haven't heard from him. They should just send us a new TV. Very disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

No HBO-GO!
on August 22, 2014

Wanted to upgrade my den TV and move the Apple TV to a different set. Did not realize SONY is not compatible with HBO-GO, should have done more research. The Netflix app works but difficult to navigate, works much better with Apple TV. The instruction booklet is almost useless and the remote appears cheap with limited functionality.
On the plus side, the picture is good for the price and the sound is adequate.
I will return this TV and wait for better functionality.

Horrible product

I saved SONY reward points to get a TV. My wife and kids were excited to get it. The plastic casing on the back was cracked and when I plugged it in, the screen was a rainbow of cracked glass. Customer service was horrible and could not care less that I took a day off to receive this TV. They did send FEDEX to pick it up
I would give this product zero stars if possible and obviously my SONY rewards points are useless. I will be going to a different card as SONY is supplying garbage
