Never Again
on January 1, 2021
Posted by: Ron O
from Elk River, Mn
i'm very disappointed in this dryer. we've had it 4 years and it's going to recycling because i couldn't in good conscious sell this to anyone else. i've had to replace the drum rollers 3 times already and am spending new year's day going in for the fourth set. every time i've replaced them, i've replaced all 4 rollers, belt, and tensioner. with what i've spent on parts i could have bought a new one. i'm a big supporter of samsung, but never again with their appliances.

Expensive dryer that failed after 4 years
on March 21, 2021

dv42h5200ep samsung 7.5 cu ft electric dryer failed after 4.5 years. squeaking and rattling noise every time we try to use it. i didn't seen any visible cracks in the drum. rattling and squeaking noise even though i ran an empty load. your one year warranty is useless. i had a ge dryer before and it lasted for more than 10 years.
it worked fine for 4.5 years then suddenly failed. online search shows that others had similar experiences. complaint is that samsung uses products designed to fail in a few years to force you to buy a new dryer. i won't be buying anymore samsung products.

Hey, JT. I'm saddened to hear this about your dryer going through these problems. We try to shoot for 100% customer satisfaction, but it looks like we fell short. To help resolve this, I got some troubleshooting steps that go over what to do with your dryer making noise. I also have information on how to contact a local service center in your area. I hope this helps, and thank you for being a Samsung customer. ^Pat https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01000979/ https://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/locations/

Reliability
on April 19, 2021

i purchased the unit new from home depot. in 2019 the unit began making a high pitched squeal. home depot referred me to samsung who advised an extended warranty was not in place. i was referred to a 3rd party repair co. who replaced defective parts for $400. now the unit is making a high pitched squealing noise. the dryer is unusable. the clothes also had a burning smell.
samsung customer service was of no help. they advised the 3rd party repair was only good for 6 months.
i'm not paying for a 2nd repair. i will remove this junk from my house and buy another brand.

Tired of replacing heating elements
on April 24, 2021
Posted by: Tired
from Memphis, TN
we have had this dryer for barely three years and today installed the third heating element on it. aside from the time involved, it is an extremely inconvenient install. we have 2 adults in this house and don't do large loads of laundry so there is really no reason we need a new heating element every year. not likely to buy another samsung dryer and if this happens again, we are getting something else. plus, just how does the dryer turn my sheets into a burrito every week?

$1000 dryer BREAKS 5 TIMES IN 1 YR
on May 5, 2021
Posted by: Mike
from Cary, NC
brand new samsung washer & dryer cost a fortune. dryer is this exact one. lightly used for one & 1/2 yr, broken five times in 1yr. problem: no heat while drum spins. outgoing ventilation professional cleaned, no clog so not the issue. parts (thermostat & thermal fuse) replaced by professionals. continuity checked in all other parts. each repair costing $$$ in service fees. electric dryer worked for 1 or 2 cycles after, or sometimes a few weeks before breaking down again, same problem. technicians baffled & cannot give diagnostic & quit after repeated attempts. called samsung - customer service was horrible. i'm so shocked & disappointed, i'll never buy another samsung products again.

Poor Quality
on May 21, 2021
Posted by: Mad Chad
i've had this dryer for over 4 years. the power button had issues, within a month. you could only press it at a specific spot to get it to turn on/off. the biggest issue, though, is the heating element. it's garbage. i can't even call it hot garbage because it's obviously not hot. i've had to replace it, several times. we're replacing the dryer, instead. we won't be purchasing a samsung. poor quality and poor customer service have made me look elsewhere for my electronic and appliance needs.

Switching to another brand.
on June 22, 2021

after reading other peoples comments, i feel fortunate that my dryer lasted 5 years. i experienced the rolling mechanism and the heating element going out. the repairs would cost around the same as a new unit. from what the repair man had told me today, is that this is a common problem with samsung dryers. i plan to switch to another brand after i do some research.

Purchased dryer in 2017, a year and a half later no heat, samsung covered it. Now it's 4 years old and the drum is crack! Unusable! Fire hazard.. class action lawsuit filed, many complaints online, drum breaking in same area on hundreds and no recall. clothes have been ruined. stay away from samsung appliances, samsung has great electronics like phones but horrible appliances.
