Blew up on installation

I had this unit shipped overseas (Philippines) and had it installed by a licensed electrician using the 3-wire install instructions, where ample power was provided for 240V 7.2 KW with the correct amperage. In addition to that, it was hooked up to 10000 watt automatic voltage regulator (which costed a pretty penny) for extra protection from power fluctuations. Upon turning on the circuit breaker and pressing the knob, there was a bursting sound, a flash, and some smoke, on top of the microwave, indicating something popped in there. What could have possibly went wrong? The power was hooked up directly to the main power supply of the house, and went through the AVR releasing a steady output of 220V. Now, the display only shows something when you open the oven door, and as soon as you press something, it clicks off. The installation instructions on voltages are rather vague for someone who hasn't been doing this everyday for the last 20 years. On one line on the unit's sticker it says KW 5.4 208Y/120. Below that it says KW 7.2 120/240V. What exactly is the required power for this unit? The local electricity here runs at the 220V range.

This wall oven requires a single-phase, 120/208 VAC or 120/240 VAC, 60 Hertz electrical system. If you connect to aluminum wiring, properly installed connectors approved for use with aluminum wiring must be used. The KW rating when installed for 208V is 5.4 and for 240V it's 7.2. We love our new wall microwave/oven combo. It replaced our GE microwave/oven combo that we have had for over 20 years (and still worked great-just updating our appliances and kitchen). It looks great and fit PERFECTLY in the existing opening! I am having to get used to the knob instead of buttons to push. I can't say that I love that feature. However, it works well. The oven is soooo quiet when the fan comes on to cool it down. Our other one was fairly loud. The new microwave works great, but I am having to get used to the door opening "down" (like an oven door). It is a little tricky for my husband who is in a wheel chair. Overall, we are very pleased with our purchase.
I would recommend this to a friend!
