Disappointed - no proper warning of hazards

I am giving this a single star because of the off gases and because there are no warnings about off gases and that you have to remove the factory residue and prevent smoke from a new oven, by run the oven empty at a high temperature (400-600°F or 200-315°C) for 30-60 minutes with good ventilation. Wipe the oven with a warm, damp cloth after it has cooled. Repeat the process if the smoke or odor persists. when you buy a product especially an expensive cooking appliance you should not have to worry about off gases and chemical odors coming from your new appliance especially if that gas can kill your pets and harm babies and people with weak lungs. The need to burn of these harmful residue is not listed when buying I would not have bought a new oven if I knew that but I found out after it was installed and the old one was gone. I think it is unconscionable for any company to not complete the manufacturing process or at the very least let customers what they are risking when buying a new oven that has not had the harmful manufacturing residue burnt off. The risk to their families and pets might make more people chose to just not bake at all. I don't understand why as expensive ovens are why this very important final step is left to customers that just gave the company thousands of dollars are then asked to risk their health and the health of their families for an oven baked meal.

We definitely understand the concern with the odor and smoke you are noticing with your new range. We'd like to share more information towards this. A small amount of smoke or odor from your new oven is not uncommon during the first few times the oven is used. This is caused by the heating of new parts, insulating materials, or the tape used in shipping. This is applicable to both gas and electric ovens. The smoke or odor should dissipate after the first few uses. A slight odor is also normal when a new cooktop is used the first few times. Oven is inoperable as is

The racks inside of the oven cannot be removed without scarring up the inside of the oven, which has already happened. Now GE just wants to send new racks for the oven, but the inside is scarred up. Entire oven should be replaced. NOT HAPPY!!!

It’s ok. The bottom oven…not, the only OVEN, cooks nicely. It came with the house we just moved into and we were initially excited as we thought it was a “double oven”. It’s just on the front calling it the “upper oven”. Disappointing. Would rather have a real double oven with a microwave on the counter or above the range.
