Six weeks new and control panel fried

Bought this oven new and after only six weeks of use, it went dead. Had to wait a little over a week for the service call under warranty, and when repair guy came out and was troubleshooting, something started to smoke. he had to call GE and do further troubleshooting. Apparently the control panel failed and the smoking part needed replacement, which leads us to waiting another week for the part to come in. Never realize how much you rely on a simple thing as a microwave when you don't have one. Hate how both rely on one part to work. Although the oven combo looks very nice, the reliability factor is not there. My specific situation aside, the other critiques fit this oven combo is the beeps indicating microwave cooking is complete is way too soft (no volume adjustment for it either) and does not repeat, the fan is too loud when microwave cooking is done and there is only one timer. I had read many reviews for this oven online. Unfortunately, you do not see the bad reviews until you are looking for a specific problem to see if others have experienced it. All I he to do was Google "GE oven dead" and I saw many who have had control panels fail - some from using the oven clean feature. I did not used that, but I did use the Lo Broil twice.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought the combo not even a month ago and already have problems. It doesn't bake the bottom of the food. Also there is an error message saying an unexpecter door unlock happened and service might be required and I have to turn it off. The manual included is joke. It explains more how to unpack the oven than how to operate it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I should have seen a working model first.

The dial controls for the microwave are absurd. Rather than a key pad to punch in the time and then a start button you need to dial in the time, only in 15 second intervals rather than 1 second intervals, push in the dial button, dial in the power level, push in the dial button then push the dial button again to start the microwave. Too complicated. I can foresee the dial wearing out in the near future. Had I known what it took to just start the microwave I would not have bought this model.

It's a good unit. Doesn't heat up as fast as old unit, but not the caliber as more expensive previous oven.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Some ranges and wall ovens have Preheat indicator lights or have a Preheat signal to let you know when to place the food in oven. There are two types of Preheat:
•Preheat signals when the set temperature is reached: This is found most often on models with a preheat indicator light, but also on some models with a beep. Preheat takes approximately 10-20 minutes depending on model.
•Preheat signals when the temperature is hot enough to add food: Found on newer models with an audible Preheat signal. Preheat will signal at about 5-7 minutes. The oven is not at the set temperature; however, the oven is hot enough to add most items that require a pre-heated oven.
For those models that do not have a Preheat indicator light, wait approximately 10-20 minutes to allow oven to preheat. Time will vary depending on your model.

Worst Redesign EVER!

Whoever re-designed the microwave should be fired. The control system requires too many steps to do what the old one did with just a few pushes on the front of the microwave. The combined oven/microwave controls are also ridiculous. Separate ones were easier to use and more intuitive. The open to the front of the microwave makes it difficult for me to reach past the middle of the microwave, and I'm 5'7". I have to get a step stool to clean the back. Taking something heavy out of the microwave is tough because you can't get close enough to what's inside to make taking it out easy without stretching your arms all the way out. Terrible, terrible redesign. I'd send this one back if I could get a micro/oven combo with the old control system.

Fit in existing opening. The installer that Rosner's provided did an excellent job and removed the old unit.

Absolute JUNK

I purchased this along with a slide in oven, fridge and dishwasher 3 years ago. The only appliance that still functions is the slide in oven. Absolute waste of money.
