Beyond Expectations

Replaced a 7.1 AV receiver system with this Sony sound bar to accommodate a move to a smaller home.
I could not be happier. It automatically switches the sound source to the HDMI port that has been selected. It is easier to use than the AV receiver it replaced. Forget the sound bars that don't have HDMI ports!
The sound is surprisingly good - much better than the TV sound and not too far off from legitimate surround sound. The subwoofer works flawlessly.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Loud but soft

Produces very well balanced sounds. Even for the loud sounds, it produces nice sounds that doesn't hurt my ears. Extra HDMIs are big plus, though I found my TV box sounds better through Samsung TV output rather than connecting directly on HDMI. Of course, Sony Playstation worked better with the direct input. I would only take out half star if I could, for being a bit pricey when compared with others.

I bought this to replace a Bose 'Solo' for my television . . . mainly because the Bose had a 'governor' on it and - at times - we could not hear the sound from it even with it maxed out.
I am very happy with the system - in particular the wireless subwoofer!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Doesn't link to the Sony XBR 65X850B !

I researched and decided on the Sony HT-CT770. Was told at the store that the HT-CT780 was the new model of that and it would work even better with my XBR 65X850B TV. I used HDMI to the soundbar from the Blu-ray and HDMI ARC soundbar to TV. Fantastic sound from the Blu-ray source but nothing from TV source! I had to connect the TV with the optical to have it on the soundbar! Went to the TV set- up menu and it's not listed in compatibility! The 770 is there, but not this 780. So the TV doesn't recognize this soundbar and won't link with it. Useless to me. Checked for updates, nothing yet. Return time.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We apologize for the inconvenience you have gone through, if you are still with the sound bar we would like to recommend to try the steps available through the following links and make sure also that the television has the latest firmware version installed. Also, please change the following setting on your television as well:

1.On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
2.Under the Settings category, select Settings.
3.Under the TV category, select Sound.
4.Select Speakers.
5.Select Audio system.

If you like sports, music, games or movies this is really good!! Quick, quick to install and voila your in the game. Just don't freak out your neighbors only if they bring food and beverages.

I got a problem with registration. It would not take my registered model number SA-CT80 I had to use HTCT780. Also I can't make the sound bar "real loud " it gets loud but not "real loud". Would you please send me an answer to my registration problem.

Good sound; No Bluetooth output to headphones

Loved it until I got some wireless bluetooth headphones. Now I wish this could connect to them and listen to TV without bothering others.
