Not sure this is the best choice

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased couple months ago, based on consumer reporting best ratings. Replacing a manual defrost 14 ft that still worked, I wanted frost free and bigger. Well, I did not think that I wanted the largest 21 ft - so this 17 ft was the choice.
Shelving is 5" shallower than older (1999 vintage) - and that makes a big difference in storage, almost cannot hold as much as the 14 ft with deeper shelves. Door shelves are more usable.
BIGGEST disadvantage - like all appliances, they are made so cheaply. LOUD, and what I hate the most - you cannot even open the door without sliding the appliance, really!?! That stinks. I should have known, it did it at the store, I just thought it was empty, so it would be ok. NOT.
SO, maybe look at more models before you decide.
Price point on this one is good, value - who knows if it will last.

Yikes! I am dismayed to hear of your dissatisfaction with your new freezer purchase, MarciaLS. It is very important for your freezer to be leveled (using the leveling feet) ½ bubble higher than the rear so that the door closes easily when left halfway open. This step should also keep the freezer from “following” you when you open the door. Page 12 in your Owner’s Manual has information on the normal operating sounds your freezer many make. Good freezer for the money.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The inside layout is excellent, the light is nice and bright, adjustable bottom shelf is convenient. The freezer runs louder than my previous freezer. Is very energy efficient.

This has the perfect size for our family of 4 (+ plenty of storage for those Turkeys, etc...). The interior is very well lit with the right number of racks and bins with plenty of storage space.
