Worst dishwasher I've ever owned!
on October 7, 2016
Posted by: CindyKn

I purchase the gallery appliances just over a year ago and I've had to have the dishwasher repaired twice already and the ice maker replaced in the fridge. I have to prewash all the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and even then they aren't always clean. I will say it's very quiet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

CindyKn, I can only imagine how frustrating this has been for you! There are many conditions that can impact cleaning, the most common being temperature. The “sweet” spot for water temperature is between 120-125 degrees (at the water heater) for the best cleaning potential. Ensure you run the water in the sink until it is hot (like you do before getting in the shower). Don’t forget to use rinse aid, and clean the filters regularly (page 16 in your Owner’s Manual). Finally, is the heater (inside on the bottom of the dishwasher) covered by a heavy mineral or calcium scale (looks like white spots on the heater)? If it is, start a cycle with no dishes in it. Once it has finished the initial fill, add 1 cup of white vinegar to the bottom and let it finish the cycle. I hope this has helped! Your friendly Frigidaire lady, Ruth

Don't even think about it!

Other than the look, there is no redeeming quality about this machine. Does not clean, does not dry (especially on plastics) Had to replace it once along with four service calls in 1 year. Was told by service guy to keep door open after wash to dry the dishes!. Very disappointed that it cannot perform the one simple task that it was design for. Talked to other owners that has this machine and they hate it as well. Have no idea how others think that this is a good machine. Don't say you haven't been warned.

Emtnurse, I am so sorry to hear of your disappointment in the dishwasher! Unfortunately, plastic dishware does not have sufficient thermal properties to dry effectively. I do have a few suggestions for you to try that may help with drying everything else. The “sweet” spot for water temperature is between 120-125 degrees (at the water heater) for the best cleaning and drying potential. Ensure you run the water in the sink until it is hot (like you do before getting in the shower). Using the high temp wash or sanitize can also improve cleaning and drying performance. Is the heater (inside on the bottom of the dishwasher) covered by a heavy mineral or calcium scale (looks like white spots on the heater)? If it is, start a cycle with no dishes in it. Once it has finished the initial fill, add 1 cup of white vinegar to the bottom and let it finish the cycle. Don’t forget the rinse aid (it really makes a difference)! If you still experience poor drying, increase the amount of rinse aid dispensed (page 15 in your Owner’s Manual). Leaving the door of the dishwasher ajar after the cycle is done (or overnight, that is what I do), will allow it to dry inside and help keep odors from building up. frustrated with frequency of i20 errors

we bought this dishwasher within the last 2 years and we have been fighting with i20 errors since. We have re-routed the drain hose, added water after an i20 and restarted only to have it error out again.

Response from frigidaire.comBy RuthOnline Outreach SpecialistNovember 18, 2016

Hey scouter, thank you for sharing your dishwasher experience with us. An i20 error can relate to clogged filters or a restriction in the drain line has been detected. First please do a power re-set by interrupting the power to the dishwasher at the breaker box for 5 minutes and then reapply the power. Please check the drain air gap, and clean both filters (page 16 of your Owner’s Manual), wearing gloves please as there are sharp parts in the sump. If your dishwasher is attached to a garbage disposal, please make sure that the knockout plug has been removed. If you have done these steps and are still experiencing the i20 error code, you would need to seek service. You can find a list of Authorized Service Providers by zip code, on our website. Dirty dishes

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] i bought this dishwasher about 4 months ago, it has been a lemon since the day i bought it. i have resorted to washing the dishes by hand and then putting up the dishwasher and the dishes and silverware come out dirtier then they went it. my boyfriend will only use plastic at my house bc the silverware & dishes are so gross. i will actually bite the dust and buy a new one. the repairman said i should try running hot water in my sink for 10 minutes before i put up the dishwasher. i said are you friggin kidding me?

Hey glasslady, to help get the hottest water to your dishwasher, we recommend letting water run in your sink until it’s hot (like you do before getting in the shower). This "primes the pump", it gets hotter water to your dishwasher faster. Water entering dishwasher should be at least 120° F (49° C) to give satisfactory results (page 15 in your Owner’s Manual). Your dishwasher uses about 3-4 gallons per cycle, limiting the opportunity the water has to warm up if it doesn’t start off hot enough. Hi LMIII, thanks for sharing your review with us. I understand that you feel that the dishwasher is not drying the dishes properly. I would recommend checking a few things before a new service provider is scheduled. Check and make sure the water coming in is at least 120 degrees and that you are using rinse aid? I realize that as a consumer you feel that these are not reasons for your dishwasher to underperform. Over the last few years, Energy Star has issued stricter standards for water and energy usage which can increase the need for Rinse Aid to dry dishes. Respectfully, Jennifer

The Worst Appliance I Have Ever Owned
on February 23, 2017
Posted by: jfuller

This is by far the worst appliance I have ever owned. The first thing to go was the control panel, after about a year of use. After the problem was diagnosed by a tech, it took three months for the appropriate parts to become available. About a year after that,, the pump and sensor went out. I took 4 visits from SEARS techs to correctly diagnose and correct these problems. It is now three months later and the dishwasher is again not working, and it seems to be a problem with the control panel. Again. To say I'm unhappy about this is an understatement.

Do Not Buy
on June 6, 2017

At the 2-year anniversary, this dishwasher started acting up. Lights failed to come on, cycles started taking longer. At 2yrs and 4 months, now the drain pump never shuts off and major repairs are needed. From my research this appears to be a bad control board and a fairly common problem. Would not recommend.

I'd give it zero stars if I could

We bought this dishwasher when we built our house. It was installed in January of this year. We hate it!! We have to wash our dishes before loading them. And then we have to towel dry them when we take them out. Plus the detergent stains the inside especially down the door. It truly is the worst dishwasher we've ever owned!

Response from frigidaire.comBy TheresaFrigidaire SpecialistMay 5, 2015
Good Afternoon Jefsco,

Hello Frigidaire Friend! First, allow me to thank you for purchasing our appliances and becoming part of our extended Frigidaire family. We hear your voice and appreciate that you've taken your time to share your important quality and design concerns. Striving to be the best home appliance company in North America, we do value your opinion.

I hate to hear your dishwasher is not cleaning or drying your dishes. I would recommend using a rinse aid if you are not using one already. I would also check that your water heater is set at 120°F (49°C) to get proper water temperature inside the dishwasher. Also check the incoming water temperature to be sure it is not less than 120°F (49°C) at the sink closest to the dishwasher.

You may want to double check the way you are loading your dishes; avoid nesting items. Water can accumulate when the items are too close together. Cups, glasses, and bowls with a concave (recessed) bottom will collect water. Plastic items may need to be towel dried. This is because plastic does not retain heat, resulting in poor water evaporation from the item. This is common in all dishwashers. When the upper rack is pulled out first residual water left in the spray arm can drip down on the dishes. Pull out the lower rack first.

We would like to reach out to your personally to review your concerns and answer any questions you might have. We have attempted a connection with you via email and look forward to your reply. Kindest regards, Theresa Frigidaire Specialist
